This was what I was wondering when it was released, and got a first wave of reviews. Been watching your videos for some time, but this deserves a Sub. This mic does well, without getting much room sound in, impressive.
In my case auto-mute feature is more handy in my work, for communicators and meetings. Simply put this mic aside and that's all - no buttons, no clicking, no shortcuts :) Brilliant! :) (if you have silent mic-arm and gentle grip ;))
The best sounding “boom mic” I’ve ever used was an ATR 2100 boomed overhead. At the time it’s just all I hand but going back to my older videos it was a great sound. Also I think of Glen Beck and how he sometimes hangs the Lewett 240 pros in from of him and a guest from the XLR. It actually sounds really good
I think it is clear the Ray is a brighter sounding mic but a darn good one. I would love to see how both mics react in a not so well treated room. Boom mics are not known to do great with close reflections and the Ray is a large diafram mic, not the best at sound rejection. I hope to see another video with diffferent use cases. For now, this was a very interesting test.
Sounds pretty good as an overhead, looking forward to the full review. We get Lewitt products for a good price here in Australia, eg, the Lewitt Ray is priced at A$479 which is equivalent to USD312 inc taxes.
416 hands down. But the ray is great! The 416 just deals with reflections and sibilance better. The 416 is more pleasing. But the Lweitt is still great. So the sensor AURA technology is why im gonna pick one up. It makes the Ray A tool i dont have. Im only trying to pick up gear i feel is a tool that fits something i dont have..
WTF! i recive my ray this wednesday and the sound is very similar with the sennheiser... its ridiculous!! you have a very similar sound with minus of half price than the other, lewitt is making things very well (Ray its the third lewitt microphone that i have 😅)

Having already watched a couple of reviews of this mic I've never seen it used quite like that. Interesting.

It is definitely setting itself apart
They both sound great, but I would want to know what other sounds in the room the Lewitt would pick up, that the 416 would not.

It is rather impressive
The ray sound too bright in this test.
But that maybe a good thing for me as I have a really deep, low, voice.
