Jimmy Page used to stand back stage to see this guitar player (Alvin Lee) play, so for sure Led Zeppeling was influenced by this band. Page also named Lee as one of his influences.
Ten Years After at their peak was a pretty big deal back in the day. Only "problem" they had was that they were not interested in scoring hits. Hence many do not know them. Ten Years After was one of the best performances at Woodstock, and Alvin Lee the guitarist was right up there with Clapton and Hendrix.
As for these two versions... Ten Years Afters version is way way better.
As for comparing two covers, how about linking in to this one. How about the live version of Al Kooper's version of "I can't keep from crying sometimes" ( th-cam.com/video/N-Q7TrGqN1k/w-d-xo.html ) and the live cover version from Ten Years After ( th-cam.com/video/icWcaP0_L2o/w-d-xo.html )

Such an underrated guitarist. If I were in a band it would be along the lines of this style. I loved the guitar work on this song. The mix of acoustic and electric instrumentation was so brilliant and ahead of it's time. We will have to dive into more Ten Years After. Thank you for you recommendation and thank you for watching and providing feedback!

Saw Ten Years After as the lead-in band for Ted Nugent, back in the early-mid 70's. Alvin Lee stole the show and was brought back out to play the final set with Ted.

Thank you for watching. The 70s offered us some great rock n roll! 🤘

One of the greatest guitar solos ever recorded. And a brilliant song to boot! Sadly Alvin Lee died from complications to correct an atrial arrhythmia. I had that corrected a few years ago using cardiac ablation, which is a simple day surgery. RIP Alvin Lee.

@crhkrebs glad you made it through your surgery! Medical science has come a long way! Do you play an instrument?
Thanks for watching and sharing your story. 🤘

wait he died of Afib??.. I have that and had heart shocked 4 times so far but not sure why he would die from it.. really sad for one of our foremost guitarists . His brilliance was on Par with Keith Emerson playing Keyboards to me...

The Accused also rock Devil Woman and Barracuda in their signature sonic splatter. Love them!

Alvin Lee Impressed us again in 1994 when he collaborated with George Harrison for a song called "The Bluest Blues." Please check it out.

So many timeless songs from that era. Sadly the social issues seem not to have changed for the better.

We don't realize the change we can make as a collective conscience. Hopefully we can figure it out one day. ✌️

If I may add another suggestion to compare 2 covers, how about the song Bodies from the Sex Pistols, and then the cover from Veruca Salt.

look up the original Smokin' in the Boy's Room and the cover by Motley Crue, you'll probably like the Crue's version better because you heard it first and it's more Metalish.

This is one of those songs I didn’t know I knew till I heard it. Definitely liked the original more. Five finger death punch did a cover of The animals House of the rising sun
