Buen trabajo, suena estupendamente, siempre tan tecnicamente exigente. Bill Evans tiene que estar revolvandose de alegria. Muchas gracias por tu musica
Yeah John! I play it on tenor and finding something interesting and different while maintaining consistency is a real challenge for me also. The vibe of the melody is what draws me to the tune.
The melody is a trifle pianistic. But it does draw you in. Word has it that Jesper insisted on it's inclusion on Raney 81 because he dug the tune so much. Not sure if that's true :) Bill's own version of it from 1959 is incomparable.
@@raneyjr Yeah " pianistic" for sure. When i play compositions by piano or guitar players on tenor, the first question is where do I breath?" and the second question is "what kind of sound should I use?" I can´t imagine Hawk playing Periscope but Pres or Stan or Zoot. I recorded it on soprano which was more natural for me.
@@bobblues1158 that really interesting about soprano. Stan was the ultimate melody interpreter. I listened a lot to his version of Very Early from “Pure Getz” to get a better sense of the melody. Especially that loose embellished melody thing that he seems to do better than almost anyone else
One of my favorite tunes from Bill Evans. Thanks for the rendition.
