    I've always thought pros in tournaments wavedash smoothly (w/o the crouching animation) because they're simply doing it REALLY fast. Turns out it's a whole different technique. Thanks for the explanation :D

      Haha I wonder if I TAS a wave dash fast enough it will look like plink dashes, I'll try it out later.
      Some top players, myself included, will also do a wave dash but use the plink input. I might do a video on it one day.

    I play pad and have my layout X-L, Y-H, A-M, B-S. Then one macro (M+H) to my left trigger button in case. I tried to keep L free because I play Vergil. Thank you for the pointers Sparty.

    @2:55 - You got a mistake here btw. Most character's jabs are 5 or 6 frames; 4 frame L is for the fast chars generally, eg Wolv, Strider, X-23 etc. Ammy in Solar stance has a 3F jab, and Chun-Li's DP is 2F.

    • @SpartanThrone
      @SpartanThrone  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's a LOT of chars with a fastest jab at 4 or 5 frames, especially among the chars that matter more in competitive play.
      Do you have a list of each chars fastest normal? Seems like something you'd have Irae!

    • @irae9
      @irae9 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SpartanThrone Afaik the Bible's frame data for character normals is correct(otherwise that's not something I can easily test in-game). But generally, c.Ls are a bit faster than stand L, for "average" speed chars they run around 6 frames/5 frames, respectively. j.Ls are more varied. This is less consistent with the fast chars; some are both 4F, conversely there's a couple whose c.L is actually slower, eg Wolverine, Jill etc. Ammy's fastest normal is her stand L.
      There's also a couple of chars whose fastest move is actually their DP, rather than normals - eg Ryu, Akuma, She-Hulk. Iron Man's fastest move is close-range Proton Cannon, at 3F.

    • @SpartanThrone
      @SpartanThrone  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You made me curious so I went through them. The fastest stand or crouch lights for each character come in at this count:
      Fastest crouch or stand light:
      3 frames - 1
      4 frames - 18
      5 frames - 15
      6 frames - 7
      7 frames - 6
      8 frames - 2
      9 frames - 1
      Some of these chars had an opposite stand or crouch light that was more than 1 frame apart. I wasn't considering jump lights at all because you don't apply them in the same way at all compared to stand or crouch light, but 8 characters had jump lights faster than their stand/crouch lights.
      Even if you look at it as [4 frames or faster] vs [5 frames] vs [6 frames or slower], that's still:
      3/4 frames - 19
      5 frames - 15
      6/7/8/9 frames - 16
      Also in general the average stand light is faster than the average crouch light.

    • @irae9
      @irae9 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@SpartanThrone Good times :)
      Comparing numbers for 2 diff frame values to 1 frame value isn't really a fair comparison though; you should use 3/4 frames vs 5/6 frames, then 7/8/9. In which case, by the numbers you gave here it's 19 vs 22.
      Stand L vs crouch L I noticed a pattern with the char's overall speed; a lot of the "average" speed chars have a faster c.L; it's the fast chars where that rule gets reversed sometimes...on the other hand, some of them compensate for this by having better range/hitstun on c.L.
      Did you look at the chars' faster Special/Hyper moves at all?

    • @SpartanThrone
      @SpartanThrone  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@irae9 bro you tryna steal the 5 framers away from me??? why would I split them 3/4 vs 5/6 when I said 4/5 frames (and you said 5/6). That's cheating!
      On the stand lights overall being quicker I thought it was just a general design choice cause a stand light usually has less utility (not hitting low) so it's often quicker to compensate (or rather, the low hitting one is slower on purpose generally). Viper and Skrull being a couple of exceptions with standing low lights, but viper's St.L is 5f vs her cr.L at 4f, and Skrull have both at 6f.

    Every character has different speeds of plink dashing right? Like I mainly play Tron, so her plink dashing would be a bit slower?

    • @SpartanThrone
      @SpartanThrone  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes each character is unique in a combination of 3 things in their dashes:
      1) acceleration
      2) top speed
      3) total distance
      And those are different for front and back. Except for Arthur who doesn't have one.
      Some characters can plink dash super fast, and the faster you plink the faster you move around. Some others like Taskmaster have really slow acceleration and plink dashing forward slowly gets you around faster than plink dashing quickly, because the start of his dash is slow and you end up cancelling the slow part of his dash into another slow part of you go quickly.
      I'm not 100% sure about Tron's dash, I think hers are reasonable both front and back, but nothing crazy. But combining it with her air mobility is key! Dashes into jumping then airdashing will make her mobility go up. Then there's some kind of trick with her mobility that makes her travel much further in the air iirc, can't remember what it is but if you're in the main marvel discord you could ask Kobun he will likely know.

      Vergil is lucky enough that he can wave dash back most of the time without it being an issue, and for forward dashing if you input MH and forward it automatically plink dashes for you.
      Chars like Zero and Chris will plink using S, so S~LM for example.
      And ty, appreciate you saying!
