Thanks for the video! I went to ERAU in Prescott, AZ in the late '80's, and there was a P2V Neptune stationed there. We got to watch him take off and land several times. Once he took off in August during "Monsoon Season," and just as he raised the landing gear on climbout, the winds shifted and he lost lift! He firewalled the throttles and only held level, so he had to drop a tank to stay in the air. The slurry mixture started on the golf course, covered the intersection, the Circle K and the motel parking lot! He continued on to fight the fire. :) USFS spent a few days hosing everything off, but we didn't mind.

Hawkins & Powers had a drawing mock up where they wanted to use the firewall forward from a C-130 installed on the P2V, it was a good looking machine, unfortunately it never got done.
The pilots make a difficult job look easy. They put their lives on the line for others and their efforts pay off.

Very nice movie. at Evergreen Air Center I kept the original P2V airtanker design drawings, done by hand and in beautiful color, locked away. I have no idea what has happened to them.

Fabulous video! What camera and mount did you use? I have several GoPro cameras but that mount appears to be remotely controlled, what is it? I've been on the receiving end of a tanker's dump. Many years ago as a volunteer firefighter we were pressed into service to fight a large wildfire in Blueberry Bowl in the mountains above West Vancouver, B.C. I was rigging portable pumps and running hoses to stop any fire that jumped the firebreak when we heard the warble of the bird-dog's siren, warning us that the DC-6 tanker was only a couple of minutes out. It was in some rough terrain and were weren't able to get far enough away to avoid the periphery of the dump. We got a pretty good coating, but we didn't care, we were young and having fun and were happy to be so close to the action.
Too bad I didn't have a gimbal mount for that camera Bob. Good choice of music though. Fly safe this season!
Do ya'll actually run the pylon jets? What fuel do they use? Bless all the pilots and their fire bomber aircraft.

Definitely cool. Have you looked at the San Diego Air and Space Museum's collection of early photos? If not search on Flir.com for some awesome renderings. You no doubt saw the ending photo in my video as well. It sits at Neptune Aviation's Alamogordo facility...hence, my ending credit.
