Hey I am a student, currently in grade 11 in Vancouver, what’s the best advice you could give me to achieve my goal which is to be a firefighter? I am still confused on the steps that I need to do to be able to achieve it.

Hey Ken, most fire departments require a highschool diploma, but not any specific high school courses. What is more of a priority are post-secondary credits, as a lot of fire departments require them. This doesn’t mean just getting a degree - you can get a diploma, a seal in a certain trade, or other courses you can take at a justice institute. It is really rare and hard to get hired out of high school. Most people give the advice to go out and get transferable life experience that will help you get hired!

Is JIBC good?
But there's an academy? Or you acquire all those certification by your own and then apply directly for a job as firefighter?
I got no formal education ! was home schooled is there a way i can become a firefighter now ?
