Awesome! I was in HS in the early 60's and surf music was our thing, even in the midwest of Michigan. Love the guitar and your 60's outfit. You nailed it. Keep the music alive!
Shermy that guitar is really you! You can never have enough guitars. Lol I appreciate you girls keeping this music and sound alive. I grew up listening to my dad play music from groups like the Ventures and the Animals. Your sound really takes me back! Thank you for that. Stay safe and keep the videos coming.
Another great sign that women are now the torch carriers for Rock n Roll. The Surfrajettes are one of many bands to keep the beat flowing. Awesome guitar, Shermy!
Maybe what you say is true, but the Surfrajettes are really in a subset or corner of rock n roll, yes? The main patient is still on life support as I see it.
@@peaceonearth8693 Yet music shops and instrument manufacturers seem to have a huge range of guitar types, brands and accessories, with an incredible variety of boutique pedals and amps alone. Considering there's nothing more rock and roll as far as instruments go than guitars, an instrument that dominates most music shops, I'd suggest the patient is much healthier than the doomsayers predict.
@@deaddoll1361 Good point. The difficulty, I suggest, is that the industry finds it easier to promote an individual: Taylor, Madonna, Miley, Elvis as opposed to a group and that they think the audience, especially women are obsessed with dancing which leads to MOR and hip-hop. Nonetheless I believe the Surfrajettes may have a strong wider appeal.
Nice guitar, Shermy. I'm a personal friend of Creston Lea, owner and builder of the guitar. He's in Burlington VT. I played his wedding. He's a great builder and also plays surf, as well as many other kinds of music and, further, is also a fan of the band I'm in, The Starline Rhythm Boys. He has really developed his business and is now known world wide. BTW, I dig the Surfrajettes - great playing; great 60's look. I know you young gals are really in to it - just wonderful that you're carrying on the tradition. People say, "they're from Canada" - no surf there (well that ain't really true). So what? The Astronauts, a great 60's surf band from Boulder CO (now THAT'S landlocked!) had a good minor hit with Baja, a Lee Hazelwood composition, in '63. So stay on it, Shermy - you gals are delivering the surf goods in your own way/style. And remember, Surf basically celebrates 60 yrs (!) in 2021.
You have a good eye. That guitar does fit you and your show perfectly. Too many bands these days show up for gigs looking like they just finished mowing their lawns. I appreciate the effort that goes into changing into stage clothes and back to work clothes for tear down. Been there. You do a great job with your music and presentation.
We had that lamp at home when I was a kid. I remember my mom was sitting where you are on the sofa, I was sitting on the arm beside her, so we could both read something in her lap. I absent mindedly reached behind me, my finger went into one of the lamp sockets, which didn't have a bulb in it for some reason. That's how I learned what 110 volts feels like. Great lamp though.
I love this. The lovely lady comes on to tell us all about the tools of her trade and we reply about lamps....or raccoons. I hope they read through our stuff and laugh out loud.
Shermy, that guitar looks like a lot of fun. I’m looking forward to hearing how it inspires your playing. I really like the new space you two have set up there, nice work!
That really is a beautiful guitar! I love how the color is not too flashy, but there still is that sparkle finish and the brown rosewood fingerboard fits in right there! Maple wouldn't look so nice with this. All this combined with the matching headstock!! You need a good name for it!!
sounds alot different, less pop in those foil pickups, but that helps when you hit those full chords, they sound fuller. very cool. now you need them to make you one with your name on it..
@@rickgehring7507 not saying its better or worse, just that those foil pickups have a specific sound. just because you like or dont like something doesnt make it THE PERFECT TONE, the tone she picks is her tone, you dont have to play it.
The tailpiece section is just like one on a Fender Jazzmaster or Jaguar and those are GREAT for having a whammy bar that won't throw you out of tune. An excellent choice for anyone playing whammy bar heavy music like surf. Rock on.
Really cool guitar with a great sound. Your Jaguar has a particular “scream” that I haven’t heard duplicated, so don’t let it get too dusty. It’s a special guitar. But, I like this one too.
It sounds superb! I must add, it is a unique take on the offset shape. Slight alterations on the shape and other nuances really change the feel of an instrument on a personal level. As always, I enjoy your playing and I’m looking forward to what you create with it😀.

Everything about this is fantastic! The music, the guitar, the background, and of course, Shermy! I had Curtis Novak rewind some pickups on a 70's Ibanez Firebird. When I got them back they were a bit microphonic, so I asked him about that. He told me, "That's how Neil likes them." Ok, fine. If it suits Neil, it suits me!
Hi Shermy , the "Creature" looks and sounds great ! Looking forward to hearing more songs with the new guitar. Merry Christmas to you and the group !! I enjoy your "Jingle Bells", Ventures tribute!

I'm not very good on guitar, but i literally found a guitar in an alleyway in Toronto when I was about 18.
