Completely shuts the heart down and causes cardiac arrest that’s what the random drop was about. Very fatal almost no one ever survives but the scenario he was in probably saved his life.
People tend to forget, these guys are human. People have unrealistic expectations from athletes, but have very little expectations from those who make way more money, and have the power to effect millions of lives.
Ppl don't forget bro they just don't care. It shouldn't take an athlete suffing an horrific injury for ppl to understand that they are human as well.

Absolutely wonderful to watch all of these people come together to pray and help this young man who is in imminent danger, all hopes and prayers to Damar, friends and family to make it through this.

This is my first time hearing about a football game being postpone due to injuries like this but maybe it’s for the best. They can always reschedule despite the refunds but you can’t reschedule life and the players need to be focus during any sport. Get well soon Damar Hamlin. ‘Nuff said!

Shocked! Praying 🙏🏼 that Hamlin will be okay. As a fan of both types of football ⚽️🏈, I saw the same thing happen to Christian Eriksen (currently on Manchester United and the Denmark 🇩🇰 national team). He had a cardiac arrest mid-game during the 2021 Euros. It’s always scary to see. Thoughts and prayers with him and his family. Hopefully Hamlin can make a full recovery like Eriksen did.

I'm no medical expert, but the way his neck rolled as he made the tackle all the way till he rolls up to stand up, major pinch in his upper vertebrae that effected his brain to shut off his breathing. Hospital said he was alive but in critical condition when he arrived at the Cincinnati hospital. Hoping he comes out and back to the field. The brotherhood they have is unbreakable
A doctor commented and suggested commotio cordis - being why they rushed to start CPR as fast as possible.
That's exactly what I saw, neck trauma. He didn't realize until he stood up and turned his head to the right side and then fell back like it snapped and he was paralyzed, except his forearms laid themselves downwards after body was laying down which was a really strange movement considering the injury. But yes, the sideways awkward position on impact looked like neck trauma.

I think it very telling that Ryan Clark was on ESPN this morning making light of a player hitting Nick foles yesterday and while Nick was laying motionless getting convulsions the player that hit him was doing snow angels besides him then when Nick was carted away the player on the sideline was joking about him putting Nick too sleep even though he didn't know how serious he hurt Nick. Luckily Nick situation by no means as serious as tonight,thank God and by no means I'm comparing them but Ryan was making excuse for the guy clowning the player he hit when nobody knew how or if it was serious or not. But this is what people was correcting Ryan about this morning, you making light of a man laid out when you don't know how seriously he hurt know tonight it just rings hollow to me what Ryan is saying.

The horrific scenes that come to mind when Damar Hamlin collapsed after making a tackle was Al Lucas in Arena Football when the Los Angeles Avengers played the New York Dragons and Lucas died from blunt force trauma and a upper spinal cord injury after making a tackle.
Same with Chuck Hughes when the Detroit Lions played the Chicago Bears in 1971. Hughes is the only player in NFL history to die during a game.
I also witnessed Reggie Brown when he had his football career ended with a spinal cord contusion after making a play on Adrian Murrell back in 1997.
This was not a significant hit. It’s something else.

Commotio cordis is a phenomenon in which a sudden blunt impact to the chest causes sudden death in the absence of cardiac damage. Immediate CPR and defibrillation are needed to survive. Mostly happens to young men between 8 and 18 years old.

Idk what Ryan said regarding the celebration but can u really blame the player he had no idea the QB was injured because he never got up to celebrate he laid on the turf and celebrated so how would he know the QB was injured.
@RedBaboonAss Kayvon did, he looked over and seen him on the ground next to him. He also taunted him with the sleeping gesture when Nick was being treated. After the facts, yes it was two different situations. However at the time, Kayvon did not know that. Funny how Ryan has a different view about it now.

I recently received my EMT certification and this seams like ventricular fibrillation caused by blunt force trauma to the chest. Receiving a forcible blow to the chest at the right time during the cardiac cycle can cause a cardiac arrhythmia and in some cases the patient will collapse or even die on the spot. Sorry, I just wanted to give my two cents, and maybe provide an answer to those who are concerned and curious. This is a horrible incident. I sympathize with Mr. Hamlin and his family. Let’s all pray to God for him to be saved and healed from this injury.
I read about a guy who was in a fight and the other guy punched him in the sternum and it was as you said, it was at the split second time of his heart beat that caused a fatal arrhythmia...
@@benlaw4647 Man it’s sad. Such a freakish sudden injury. But you’re right, there’s similar stories out there where this happened during karate matches, I even heard one about a guy who had this same injury getting hit by a pitch playing baseball.
