You might have too many groups and components, like cars, windows, etc.

When I export my model as pdf all the lines come as dotted lines. What could be the reason for this, and how to solve this issue?

you may check the model setting in SketchUp, then export as PDF.

How where you able to automatically edit a PDF file in Illustrator straight away. Like Roads etc?

You can edit the PDF by opening the pdf directly in Adobe Illustrator
