What makes me so happy about the first (highest rated) image is that the photographer did not edit an airplane into it.

Thanks Lee picking my pictures to the critique! :) The background wall on the photo at 3:15 is really like this. The left side was a little more blackish added some blue to it in post.

Dude! I really thought it was a guy sitting on a red roof and the window was a skylight! Awesome photo!

I absolutely love that image, and it’s really hard to fit into a critique on photography because it’s all about visual design.

But the person is edited in right? He looks way too small for that wall and window? Or am i wrong?

@@jeffreylebowski4927 He's not edited in. What you see is what was captured in camera.

Why did you guys stop the "critique the community" series? I would love opportunities to submit work for your critique, I've watched so many and I was inspired to submit.

From the 2010 Rolex photography video to this.... Woooh I was like damn Owl city, video quality was no where near to what it is in this video. NICE

23:00 how do you do that? is that how the real life object looks like or is this photoshoped heavily?

can you say "shit" when it''s a shit? there is nothing special in the jump and brush. 1*
p.s. hope he recognized the fake sous drops.

Regarding editing in photo 2. I don’t think it cheapens the image but it would move the art form out of the photography genre and into the much wider image creation genre, competing with anything from oil painting to 3D rendering.

The brush @ 8:59 is interesting. Would love to hear his thoughts on why he lit it like that. The metal also doesn't look clean like, I feel you can almost see the photographer's reflection or something, is relfecting off the metal on the brush. Made it less CRISP.

I knew I had seen the building in the first photo. It's been taken in France: Vulcania is a volcano interpretation centre near Clermont-Ferrand

I think the difficulty with critiquing photos like this is they often aren’t about the photography but straddle the line between that and visual design. The second image for example is one where the photography maybe could be better but it wouldn’t matter, it wouldn’t increase the impact of the photo because it’s all about the compositional choices.

more actual critiquing, less fawning, please. :) Get brutal, man! Maybe pick some that the audience rated lower, like in the 2.1-3.0 range so you have something to give advice on.

second pic - photoshopped? the guy seems so small compared to the window (and we all know these windows, you could barely squeeze through...)

@@Haykmn you could calculate from the shadow of the window that the shadow of the guy is on the floor.

@Moving Target Photo now I got it :) I wasn’t thinking he was in mid air. I don’t know why but in my mind I was thinking he is sitting down on some kind of roof type of thing, now I know the story it is 5 star for me, excellent job 👌

I have a topic for you all to discuss. The Light and Airy look. Lots of videos but NOT one of them mentions the nuts and bolts of camera settings, etc. They all want to keep that info to themselves unless you pay a very high price which is out of reach of us and ridiculous to have to pay for some camera settings. Some say to shoot back lit subjects and some says they know how to do it in any light, etc. Would love for you to explore that look.
