  • This week I did a medium sized grocery haul from Aldi here in Australia, but I also wanted to take you along and show you my very simple vegetable and herb garden, plus what I learned in the first year of growing my own vegetables.

Thanks for showing your garden 😊 try planting tomatoes as soon as spring starts! As soon as no frost

It's such great value! We especially love the blue cheese.

Hey, try lots a lemons lemon tree. It grows loads of lemons from an early start. Try in a pot which I have done. Tomatoes are my Achilles heel . Used to get loads but for some reason there’s a lot of diseases and bugs around grr.

Loved your veggie garden!! I have not had much luck growing herbs but I keep trying. Maybe I should grow them in the garden instead of pots. Your parsley was amazing!

It's been such a fun experiment to build on. My rosemary is very happy in a pot on our front step. Decorative too 🙂

Im pretty sure if you leave the green capsicum on the plant longer they will turn red?

I think the price of avocado is so cheap compared to what they used to be

Do you ever over-winter your capsicums? I heavily mulch mine at the start of winter. I usually get 3 to 4 years from one plant

It's my first year of having them, but keen to try that!

I find it odd that real butter like that has a 1 star health rating (yes it's full fat) but then vegetable oil spreads and oils get a good star rating...

Agree! The few times I have butter spread I have the proper butter, don't personally want the vegetable oil ones (but appreciate they are often much cheaper).
