Technically pile shuffling isn't random because the order gets changed in a known way and if you memorized all the cards before you can know what the new configuration will be. tbh this isn't likely for most people to do, however some patterns are easily predictable like shuffling 5 piles into 7 piles just reverses the order of your deck. on the other hand i sometimes pile and then riffle a bit afterwards.

We keep our deck and trade binders sometimes even snacks
As well as some water and I always bring headphones to keep me locked in between rounds if I have a ton of free time
