Great watch. Salmon fishing, the most addictive and frustrating sport in the world.

As much as I like, and as wonderful as the cinematography typically is, I actually really enjoyed the cell video montage. It made it feel "realer-" more like something I might be out there doing, and not just a fantasy.

Great show. It shows the realities of Atlantic salmon fishing. No one is guaranteed a fish! G.R.O. operates a top notch camp and the guest is given ample space and comfort during their stay. Congrats on your success Matt.
I find it rather interesting that you mentioned that Paul White claims to have "created" the dirty bomber. The same was said in your recent Southern Labrador show - and is incorrect. While he certainly has gotten the credit for it (being the loudest voice tends to result in such at times) this fly was first tied by Dave Ryan. Paul's circle will say different, however the late Don Hutchens wrote the same in his recent novel. At the end of the day perhaps a moot point, but, credit to the originator, and not the one with a loud speaker, is due where it most belongs.

Water levels have been rough the last few years here in NL. However, 2023 has been a more traditional winter with regards to temperatures, at least here on the Avalon, so hopefully the lower temps will hang around a while and help the snow melt temper the water levels further into the late spring and summer. Seeing the exposed river bed and paltry trickle in many of your shots is almost downright painful 😬

I've been wanting to get out there to do a spot of fishing !
If I ever get the chance do you think it would be OK to bring my old guitar ? I'd love to play along with those guys.
Thanks for taking us along today.

So funny when anglers blame their lack of catching a fish on bananas. News flash . . . it's NOT the bananas

There's a trail that goes almost exactly where the outfitter is. There are several more that lead to the various pools up and down river.

"So conditions have been tough no doubt about that and you know I just hadn't really had a shot at a fish in days and it wasn't until I realized, I turned around to see My guide eating a banana in the back of the boat and it all came together this is why I hadn't had a touch I'm absolutely convinced of it" What???????????
