That was nice how Busta started "chatin" a little at the end of his first verse showing his West Indian heritage. The way his voice sounds, he would be tight on some reggae shit.
I wish there was a dance club that played nothing but 90's hip hop, R&B, rap, reggae and New Jack Swing. I was in high school in the 90's and that's when some of the best music I've ever heard in my life came out. It makes me nostalgic of when times were more simple and it was fun being a kid, listening to good music and dancing with my friends.
I THINK CHARLIE BROWN HAD SOOOO MUCH POTENTIAL.. HE WOULD'VE HAD A SUCCESSFUL SOLO CAREER... THERE COULD'VE BEEN A COMPETITIVE SERIES BETWEEN BROWN AND BUSTA..... CREATIVITY WOULD'VE PUSHED IN......
They were all dope. C Brown had a voice almost as distinctive as Busta, DInco was ahead of his time with the internal rhyme, Milo brought the Caribbean Flavors.
@@slipperyfrog24 In an alternate universe, Charlie, Dinco and Milo would be a part of Flip-Mode and everyone would get money together, but sadly the group was just so toxic to eachother
man, having flashbacks right about now!!! the style of clothing, the rap flow....i mean real RAP!!!! my brotha, when he was alive, said this group wouldn't do thangs....shit!!!! i told him....ONE of them is gonna be a break out artist....and we all know who that was, lol. love my life!!!!
It's no doubt that Busta was the best overall in this group. As for this particular song - Their verses rank in order of appearance. - And Milo's verse in this song is probably his best ever.
I met Dinco aka The Black Pirate in 04 at a mall in Myrtle Beach, we exchanged contacts and keep in touch to this day, he's still making music and producing. He does the raps with 'Living Legends' currently amoung other projects. Word.
One of my favorites back when rapping was art. They had colorful lyrics and beats which made poetry in motion. They are true masters They need to come back and show these new punks they got out here how its really done.
Ego killed this band. Charile was good (very good) but Busta? He stood out like a sore thumb (in a good way, almost like James Hetfield with Metallica). Busta basically became the front man for the group because fans responded most to him. I really don't think he sought to be the leader- it just happened. His success post LONS is no shock to me. I knew skinheads & speed metal fans who dug Busta. That should tell you something.
Busta had a family and had to generate loot so he was constantly trying to work the other cats didn't have as much drive and hunger that was the prime reason for the break up.
This song and especially the video is actually about the conflict/competition between Busta Rhymes and Charlie Brown. Basically, Busta is saying: Look what I got; you're nothing, and I'm going to rip you apart for the world to see(you can find this especially in the lyrics). Look at How Busta is hostile to the others i the video, especially Charlie. Busta over exaggerates his mouting the words "going down" . He stands next to charlie menacingly a the end of Charlie's verse.
LIKE I SAID.... FOREVERRRRR CREATIVITY TO THE NEXXXXT LEVEL..... FOREVERRRRR A NATIVE TOUNGER....YES, I DO CONSIDER L.O.N.S TO BE PART OF THE NATIVE TONGUES ALUMNI.............*word*.
@92rager Its funny you say that because Rastafarians will cut off there dreads when they feel there not living righteously, and in my opinion when he cut his dreads is when, as far as hip-hop is concerned, he really wasn't living righteously. Still, he'll always be one of my favorite emcees
Indeed,Milo ripped this shit to shreds-- "Got pieces of a dream I need to put together/I ain't checkin' for nobody who's tougher than leather/Whether I'm in or out a state/It doesn't make a difference/While they constantly complainin' 'bout my rear appearance."
I agree!! all of theese guys should still be in the game right now not just Busta. ALL of them can spit!! Of Busta Is Busta. CHarlie's Voice and lyrics are CRAZY!!!! He has mad hot Quotables in every song. "The rest are DOO DOOOOOOOOO" Thats from Scenario I love Dinco and Milo too!!!!!
o.g. origionals no one knows where busta comes from , where the scenario comes from how about that! this is comin from this west coast nuff respect fellas!
Best verse - I originally said C.Brown but, after reading the lirics so I could understand what Busta was saying I give best verse to him. Milo? Well, have to admit it was his own personal best.
i was in family video about 3 yrs ago and saw a movie(b movie) called sucker punch wit dinco, charlie brown and the beatnuts, funny movie.Leaders was pioneers and cant b duplicated.i prefer they work out they differences and keeped da magic goin. They all took turns shinin on different tracks but brown was my fav.
Buster back then came on our block to get his hair done by my homies sister. Linden church and Utica...40s I was there in the 90s
busta in 93 went fuckin super saiyan
The Jamaican Daredevil
charlie brown & busta rhymess both killed it even though there was animosity between those two
this was one of brown's finest moments, flawless verse
That was nice how Busta started "chatin" a little at the end of his first verse showing his West Indian heritage. The way his voice sounds, he would be tight on some reggae shit.

Charlie Brown had such a unique voice and energy
I THINK CHARLIE BROWN HAD SOOOO MUCH POTENTIAL.. HE WOULD'VE HAD A SUCCESSFUL SOLO CAREER... THERE COULD'VE BEEN A COMPETITIVE SERIES BETWEEN BROWN AND BUSTA..... CREATIVITY WOULD'VE PUSHED IN......
dude was too jealous
Exactly. He screwed himself, refusing to work if Busta was in the same building
Classic, they don't make em like this anymore
They sure dont...I don't know what this music is now a days 🤔
Facts 💯
In 93", I heard this song just before I left for the Navy and during boot camp you don't have a TV or radio; this song play in my head for 8 weeks!
Busta, is the only reason I fell in love with this group. His flow and Rap style hit the Hip Hop scene like an Earthquake! True Hip Hop Icon!!
Absolutely!!!!!!
They were all dope. C Brown had a voice almost as distinctive as Busta, DInco was ahead of his time with the internal rhyme, Milo brought the Caribbean Flavors.

"Ya concrete mentality will end in casualties, I got da right baby and no you can't follow me."
Milo killed this joint!
No one till this day brings the energy that Busta brought to hip hop!!
Charlie was nice too. The joint with flex and Odb is Legendary rip odb.
busta shines like crazy here!
man, having flashbacks right about now!!! the style of clothing, the rap flow....i mean real RAP!!!!

🗣 & WHAT!! WHAT!!! YOU better ask somebody !!!
Charlie was hand downs the best in the crew. He was on point. I swear he looks like Buggin' Out from Do The Right Thing.
This was 30 years ago,man I was young 23 years old and in Boogie Down Bronx watching this at Video City Music Box
can u believe it was 93,i miss just the different forms of hiphop from back in the day
That's tight. ;-) I miss the 90's . In this life you gotta make the best of what you make it. ;-)
I remember Busta playing this video for us on a vhs tape at LS house in a Roosevelt NY when they just did the video lol.

I will as there
I miss these dudes they were the shit ! Leaders of The New School for ever.
93 was like a turn of the century. That new wave was coming in … this lead to the hieroglyphics era
Real hip hop Forever
It's that 93 shit. Golden age of hip hop. So much came in that year. Now? DEAD MANS LAND. Nothing compares to that year. PEriod.
10 Years on from your comment, as you would have seen, things didn't get much better. God bless the golden age!

This was my favorite song in the 9th
One of my all time favorite albums. This track is still fire!
💕💕💕💕💕💕💕 I love
This is when I got into Leaders, this album blew my 13 year old mind
I met Dinco aka The Black Pirate in 04 at a mall in Myrtle Beach, we exchanged contacts and keep in touch to this day, he's still making music and producing. He does the raps with 'Living Legends' currently amoung other projects. Word.

Dope ass crew when all together LONS! There has 2 b a reunion
Can't be a reunion because Charlie is too jealous of Buster. He refused to work in the same building as Buster. So his career went nowhere🤷🏻♀️
Happy Birthday, Charlie Brown ( September, 19)
One of my favorite rap songs of all time!!!
Pure Gold!!!
Real shit
i miss this Busta
They included the lyrics in the CD liner notes. I can rap along almost thirty years later. Still love this group.
By far Charlie Brown killed it😎💪💯
Hip hop like this is still live an poppin. dont worry. it just went back underground were it started....
sick beat
One of my favourites this one. I remember the first time I heard it when it came out - What a tune! Ah the good old days...
I still know this damn song... that's what classic hip hop is all about...
I was always a Charlie fan but hey they were all unique.
young busta..straight flames
Ego killed this band. Charile was good (very good) but Busta? He stood out like a sore thumb (in a good way, almost like James Hetfield with Metallica). THIS is real hip hop.
Hale yeah!
Such a refreshing song hip hop at it best
this is the only kind of hip hop i care about
You know whats crazy ? There is nothing comparable to this today.
East coast 93-94 era was all about the rough image & having a deep crew with you.
"i paid my dues so lick the (beep).." i love charlie's part on that one!!
this was our favorite piece of wax ..such a dope single!

I couldn't believe it when I heard Milo rip this shit.
Money stayed behind the tables for most of the first album.
U can tell that the majority of the focus was on Busta at this point
they are filming this video across the street from my job! Madison Square Park, FlatIron District!
I woke up to this song this morning. dope!
I agree!! all of theese guys should still be in the game right now not just Busta.
Lons had the same energy as onyx
They was like onyx before onyx had came out
Busta Bust! he has a wild flow. gotta lov it
Milo on point on this track son!!!
LONS actually debuted before Onyx. Their first CD, FWAP, was released in 1991. Bacdafucup, an Onyx album, was released in 1993.
I was 16 when this first dropped. I was wastching Yo MTV Raps and was like Wow!
Classic Hip Ho1p
o.g. origionals no one knows where busta comes from , where the scenario comes from how about that! this is comin from this west coast nuff respect fellas!
Also An OG And We Knew Buster, What's The Scenario, East Coast & The West Coast🤷🏻♀️

Charlie Brown murdered this track to be honest, Busta Rhymes was the best but on this one Charlie OWNED it... 🔥🔥🔥
charlie and milo's verses made me rewind to memorize.
i was in family video about 3 yrs ago and saw a movie(b movie) called sucker punch wit dinco, charlie brown and the beatnuts, funny movie.Leaders was pioneers and cant b duplicated.i prefer they work out they differences and keeped da magic goin. They all took turns shinin on different tracks but brown was my fav.
L.O.N.S. reppin for the 90s!!!
True that, pbase36. - Between LONS, Tribe, Blacksheep, and even De La - They all had good indtrumentals and excellent use of the "horns"
Charlie Brown look like Shock G and Dinko d look like Ja-rule.
