This Guitar Pickup Can Lift Heavy Metal - World's Most Dangerous Guitar Pickup

  • In my journey to learn as much as I can about electro-mechanical instruments, I thought I would be fun to push the limits of magnetic field strength.
Most people know that putting a guitar pickup too close to the string causes the string to not sustain, but why is that bad? why is unlimited sustain the goal? what if we try to kill the sustain?
I have got a fishing magnet rated for 160kg and designed a pickup to go around it.
To compensate for the increased field strength I have underwound the pickup, though should I have done this?
With the coil being round, you might think you get more signal from the middle strings, though it seems the larger strings have the biggest sound.
The housing on the magnet is designed to push the magnetic field forward, which is not ideal for out setup were the coils of wire are to the side, I might try to redesign this without the housing on the magnetic.
If you enjoyed this and found it interesting, then please do subscribe and share the video. It makes the next video a lot easier.
    Thank you!

It's not really that dangerous of a pickup

If it possible, please remove the metal ring around the magnet.
It sets the wrong magnetic field configuration for the pickup.
Let there be only a magnet in the pickup.

Neo magnets often sound good in pick ups! I have a few of them!

I was surprised by the very low resistance. Compared to the typical strat single coil, how was the volume level?

I'll take some measurements and post back. I think it is a little quieter, though I will confirm.

The intro had a opening scene to back to the future vibe about it
