I have been watching ur lectures since I was in 12th std and secured a very good rank in JEE mains and got my college also. Thanks, your videos helped a lot.
Prof Michael I hope to help me in this problem please: "conical bowl filled with water, turn it so that it rests with its round edge on a table, and nothing has spilled out of it, prove that the pressure on lateral surface is equal to: 2/3pressure on base of this cone"
That is a good question. We can only use area instead of mass if the thickness and density is uniform, because then the mass is proportional to the area.
If the shapes have uniform thickness and uniform density, the the volume will be proportional to the area and we can use either to find the center of mass
@@MichelvanBiezen thanks so much. You have made our Physics Learning much easier. We Education Physics Major have learned so much from you especially Electromagnetic while Our Professor didn't teach anything at all.
Sir, your videos helped me improve my performance a lot. I scored well in JEE main and have my fourth attempt next week. Thank you so much, sir❤️❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻namaste🙏🏻 Love and respect from India 💟🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳

It is great to read about success stories like yours. Thanks for sharing.

Thats just a columm of water problem, so whats the colum height on its base and whats the colum height in the middle from left to right
I am confused as to why you are able to substitute mass for area? specifically, why does the math allow this?
If the mass distribution is uniform, then the mass of the disk is proportionate to the area of the disk. (twice as much area = twice as much mass).
Hi sir ,love from India
Thank you. Great to have you on board.
What allows you to use the Area instead of mass to find the center of mass?

I don't inderstand why we can use just Density x Area instead of Density x Volume?

Okay I get it. This is not A Sphere but This is a Cylinder. If we use the volume equation of a Cylinder. Everything will be make sense.

We are glad you found our videos. 🙂
I thought you cant cancel terms across + and - signs when dividing
As long as you divide every term in the numerator it is correct.
@@MichelvanBiezen wish i had half your knowledge
This is very nice actually
