There's nothing much to understand. They've never heard of them. They're not interested in what's happening in modern metal. To them metal is only old bands that have been around for a century. They've heard of Ozzy and Megadeth, so you get Ozzy and Megadeth. Because the genre is irrelevant to them. So is rock music. It's like, yay...Muse...again. Actually excuse me, Muse is now metal too.

Now those people that drooled over that line and that line only has a ghost profile picture on every internet platform, has exactly 69 ghost pins on their shirt, corpse paint they only wear to show that they like the band, and posts about the "yOuR bEaUtY nEvEr EvEr ScArEd Me" 24/7. I should know, because one of my friends does exactly that. I hate that some bands only get recognition from some TikTok trend, Deftones for example. One of my most favorite bands, but "my own summer" got a bit more popular due to some audio. I love it if people actually take time to appreciate the song and get to know the band more, it's fine if you only like one song. I only really enjoy APC's Thirteenth Step songs, but that doesn't mean I'm some poser that can't say they like the band. I've put a lot of thought into this, I just wish music could have more people who take time to take it in.

I believe metal songs are also applicable to the rock categories, because metal is a subgenre of Rock. That is why there is only one specific metal category and metal songs can be included in rock.
The Grammy Awards have historically hated rock and it took years before there was a rock category. The people that listen to rap are equally upset at the weird nomination choices. I'm sure most of the categories are equally messed up.

The only justifiable explanation for this list is that the staff got high and forgot to make a Rock/Metal list and threw this together last minute
The Grammy Awards have historically hated rock and it took years before there was a rock category. The people that listen to rap are equally upset at the weird nomination choices. I'm sure most of the categories are equally messed up.
