Thank you for an excellent history of the City Police Service. A very proud and outstanding Force with an outstanding history. As any previous officer knows.... you enter the City area when passing the Griffins on the embankment, and other roads into the Cities Square Mile. So sad to see the 5’11” height restriction dropped, long may the patrolling officers retain their immaculate appearance, distinct uniform helmet and plate. The helmet plate itself displaying independence by the buff atop and not the Queens crown as in other forces. Lets hope the City is not amalgamated by the Met police, sadly like the Royal Parks Officers.... and which now has declined of proper policing around the Royal Parks. Thanks again for a very interesting video.

Metropolitan Police 1829. City of London Police 1839.

    Twenty seven minutes?
    Put simply:
Parliament recognised in the long title of the City of London Police Act 1839 that the City of London's existing policing arrangements were efficient. (Therefore no need of newfangled Met Police.)
