Nice review! I found that stiffer Rigotti Wilds break in nicely, but had a hard time playing any of them right out of the box. Once I worked on them and soaked them a few times, got some good ones that lasted. Worth it if you have the time to work on them a bit.
I love that we have similar setups. My link is a 6* on a vintage reborn. I’ll give the rigottis a go, I mostly stick to jazz selects, but I wanna switch some things up.
I've been using Rigotti Gold Jazz for the last 3 years and I absolutely love them. So when I saw the cool lion box I just had to try them too. I had a pretty similar experience in that I found them inconsistent with 3 really good ones and quite a few dull ones. So it's back to the wonderful Golds which are probably the most consistent Reed I've played.
Great review! I think you would like the Rigotti Red box, aka 'the classic". Same strength and consistency as the blue box but darker and more focused with quicker/cleaner response in my opinion. I find they work really well on the short facing curve one finds on older Links. Cheers!
Nice review. I find Rigottis are bright in general in comparison to other brands. I use their gold's and found that by moving up strength a half step but moving from a medium to a light really made them play well for me. Not a fan of soaking, just wet the tip before playing. As my teacher would say, they get plenty moist while you play them. I agree, the blue box are consistent...at least the boxes I have now. Equipment sounds good to me!
Would you be able to review any of the GetASax GS Mouthpieces? (Reso Chamber or Florida Slant Sig) Everyone is praising them nowadays, so would be really interested in your professional input. 😁
You know this is a great video, but it is still the tip of the iceberg. What would be interesting to see is to try three different mouthpieces from the same company with large, medium and small chambers (like Rico) at the same opening (like 7), and three different thicknesses from the same brand (like Rigotti Gold Jazz) at 2, 2.5 and 3 in medium strength. Try all combos to see which mouthpiece matches with with which reed. Because all it comes down to is experimentation and preference. It would be great if you can make a video like this, then I buy you not a piece, but the entire cake :-))
I’ve found that the sandpaper is really good for adjusting the vamp of the reed but I use a reed geek to adjust the table and make sure the reed seals properly. It seems to me that it helps make inconsistent reeds more consistent and I get more “good” reeds per box
I'm considering getting a p mauriat76 alto do u think thier good for bieng cheaper than Selmer or Yamaha pro horns & in regards to modern mouthpieces they take some practice I use jody jazz jet 5 & it's not easy
Well, Reed #1 sounds stuffy to me. 2 was pretty good but you lost the high end a bit . 3 sounds better than 1 but not as good as 2 to me . Each Reed sounds different. Hmm , not sure I’d choose these as my “mane” Reed ! I think I’ll stay with my Daddario Royals . Thanks !

I didn't even know that the made a Redbox version. I'll look into it, thanks

Man, I really love the way you play. That’s great.

I'm looking into getting one. The price seems to be very attractive
@@Sirvalorsax that’s great news. Really looking forward to it, especially how good is it for altissimo. Your opinion on that is second to none! 😃
I have a slant. It is so great it is my main piece since one year. I played many vintage links and link like pieces. GS is the best
Audio equipment sounds good!
Thanks
you should get your hands on the new Nexus Elite reeds, would love to hear what you think of them!
I'd like to try their products in the future. I'm always on the lookout for new stuff

I hope will film the work on the Link.
your review videos are top notch
Thanks
I like the look of the box ! I’m not lion !
Adrienne, have you ever reviewed the Reed Geek? They are the best friend of any reed player. You can dial in a reed that otherwise might be discarded.
I'm very used to using emery boards or sandpaper. It looks like a cool device but I can't justify paying that much for it yet.

They almost definitely are not worth it over a yamaha/selmer
@@tylersharkey4727 well I'm not a fan of yamaha keywork
@@jackcraven7979 check out used yanagisawa 901/902 models, they're much cheaper than new and used p mauriat horns

I do think that the Royals by D'Addario are the people's champ reeds
