Lophophora - they are quite easy to care for. Hold off the watering when they are still very firm, wait till they start go "give" a little. You'll get a feel for it. They do need sun, but watch it during the summer - they do burn. Morning sun is safe. If you want to see them flower, don't water from the end of October unitl the end of Feb, and overwinter in an unheated room (10-15 degrees).

.. Woah, what a place you've been to Memo 😳☺️ no wonder why you couldn't resist buying plants.. I certainly wouldn't either.. I would have bought a lot of plants for sure ☺️😍.. And your video tour around the place was like "oh no wait, wait go back, to the left.. No wait, the other one.. Look at that.. Ohh wow".. I even cought myself trying to look around a "corner" or behind something, and that's not very easy when watching on a screen 📺😅..
.. You certainly got high temps in UK 🤗 we've "only" had just about 25c in Denmark.. Only nights are still to the cooler side, just between 8 - 13c..

Amethyst is a well known and loved hybrid. Congrads. The second perent is gorgeous laelia purpurata. It's considered to be a big cattleya, (not as good fit for mounting). I have like 5 color vars of them. 😝 Encyclias. Same culture with cattleyas +- Packing other media around instead of repotting is great strategy. Hope they will bloom soon.

I bought 2 cheap calatheas last year to experiment with at the same time that I bought API Stress Coat, nearly a year on and they’re both still alive and thriving. I would thoroughly recommend using the API. I now use it in all watering of my plants. The Calatheas did initially have browning tips but have no issues at all and are growing well

It's a fun that you got Legendary Cactus. I received one as a gift. It is same age as me. It is big as a baby's head. There are varieties of lophophora. I also have one that grows like a bush (I don't know how to call it properly). In our country they are absolutely legal to have. There is an opinion that for certain effect it is got to be over 20 years old, and grown in the natural conditions. Anyways, to eat cactuses is not wise at all.
    Please be careful with watering.
    ❤🎉 your purchases and emotions.

I watched your video while detangling and trimming my String of Hearts. Your new plants look amazing and I'm hoping they all settle in nicely.
I love your orchid collection and would love another video about orchids in the future ❤
As for the most asked about plant at the plant clinic: I would have expected the P. melanochrysum. It seems to be fussy for everyone.

I’ve found all the Cattleya alliance Brassavolas included do much better just in bark with a fast wet dry cycle. Of all the orchids I have the cattleyas need to get almost totally dry. I have a David sander I grow it in lava rock I only water it once a week. For reference I live in a high desert climate. The sphagnum moss is probably going to stay to wet.

I have certain plants I’ve added to my “retirement/no teenagers in the house” list, so she shall remain this way until my 3 children have flown the nest and I have time to pamper teenage strop throwing green things 🫣

"sib x "means it is crossed to a sibling , Encyclia and Brassavola are really easy Cattleya alliance hybrids. Very tolerant if varying conditions and can even grow in almost direct sun. Just don't touch them outside the growing season or they'll get set back.

You can be flagged for saying "peyóte"?! So, even if it’s legal in the country where you’ve posted the video? Wow. TH-cam needs to rethink some things… a lot of things lol.

    • @erikm8372
      @erikm8372 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

On that note, I’ve been seeing a few TH-camrs adding _Lophophora_ to their collections lately. Seems to be a new trend coming on. Most people, not all though, are aware it contains mescaline. And also the San Pedro cacti all contain mescaline, albeit at a much lower concentration than Lophophora. It’s a weird chemical, not really comparable to any other psychedelic. Vaguely reminiscent of LSD/acid, perhaps… Mainly it’s found in _Trichocereus_ species like pachanoi, peruvianus, and bridgesii (the last one has a monstrose, spineless form called “penis cactus”). I don’t know the current taxonomic updates, but these are the South American cacti used by Andean shamans, whereas pèyote is North American and Mexican. From what I’ve read, Lophophora is many times stronger, and packed into small, round plants. San Pedro is far less strong, plus its mescaline content is spread out over a large, columnar cactus.
I’ve drank San Pedro many times with friends, but never done Lophophora. The fact that I’ve never once seen anything, hallucinated or had any out of body moments tells me how weak SP cactus really is! However, if I did Lophophora, I’d want a shaman or a “trip sitter”. Just to respect the plant energy. What I’ve read of that is it’s incredibly mentally powerful, emotionally charged, and can be like a waking dream. I’ve often wondered if my San Pedro experiences were so relaxed and easy BECAUSE the plant refused to show us the full power it possesses… it “knew” we were being casual about it? Hence why I think all plant-based psychedelics, including cannabis, are supposed to be done by candlelight, at night, indoors, laying down. Meditate and reflect. Even sleep. Preferably be there with a shaman. People take shrooms in broad daylight and wonder why they have a bad trip. Lol.

Yes, it’s a bit tricky with the guidelines! Hopefully, they’ll make some adjustments. Thanks for sharing your experiences and insights, Erik! It’s always fascinating to learn more about these plants and their uses. 😊

Hi Memo, I have been using Kratiste poles for about 9 months now. My experiences are mixed. Some plants, such as Philodendron Sagittifolium, literally cling to the moss pole and can not be moved at all. 👍Other philodendrons (e.g. philodendron painted lady) do not make use of the moss pole at all. 🥱Basically, this is not surprising to me, because while tree bark occasionally gets wet, Kratiste stays dry.🤓 If the thin Kragtiste sticks will work for my juvenile epipremnum time will tell.
The poles can be easily expanded using connecting pieces and can also be divided carefully with a good pair of secateurs, an option I use for young plants. Kratiste also produces plank-like flat "boards" that are great for some plants. The ingenious thing is that the rough surface imitates tree bark. The only problem I can see is the lack of moisture. By the way, you can easily moisten the poles without them breaking, but they obviously don't retain moisture. So much for my little experience report. I look forward to your experiences.
Luxurians are divas? 😳Why didn't anyone tell me this?🤭 Keep your fingers crossed for mine.
    Yours from Germany Dörthe
