i know i said “you know” like 5,000 times but let’s just move past that, there’s a reason i ride horses and don’t talk for a living and that’s because i’m clearly not very good at talking 😂 hope you guys enjoy and if you want me to film another q&a let me know!!!
I’m really interested in starting my own stable when I’m older. I am also interested in knowing what you had to do legally as a business owner to be able to start your stable, how it is built and what materials it’s made out of, how you afforded to have it built in the first place, some of the things you offer at your stable and much more. I was hoping you could make a video about it and answer some of my (and other peoples) questions because I haven’t seen many videos about that.
Have you ever considered keeping your horses on pasture and only stalling during feedings? Im really happy to hear you say you try to keep them out as much as possible, so few people do this!! So proud of others catching on to it! I've seen a huge improvement in my own and many friends horses who've done such. And continued to do such. The amount of health issues for them has drastically reduced especially them having free choice hay and access to a variety of mineral blocks but the hay / grass, my own horses have not colic ed in over ten years since doing this!! plus feeding high quality grain we do seminole as they are located in Ocala and we're in ga. And I got to go to there factor as a child in 4 H for a field trip and it was so educational and just amazing how high quality and the way they do production and quality control is wonderful. And my mare is far from an easier keeper we feed seminole performance just had to switch back to ultra bloom. Have you ever considered keeping horses barefoot and doing boots? Not horse shoes lol So much cheaper no more thrown shoes horses going lame /off or when they throw shoes at a horse show and your just fucked... And all the lost money, so glad we went to being barefoot! And like if you use boots if one breaks it's easier to fix at worst duck tape to the rescue!!!
Random question: is Slew in any way related to the racehorse Seattle slew? I just thought he kinda looked like him and a lot of horses keep their ancestors names. Love your videos! Keep up the good work!
I miss my Joey soo much.. but i am forever grateful to people like you and my trainer that are working soo hard taking care of our horses and making sure they are happy. Thank you so much! Hoping this all ends soon.. 🙏❤
The barn I ride at only has thoroughbreds there might be like 3 quarter horses out of like 40 horses there I own a 16.3hh thoroughbred and a quarter horse
Thank you that was SO great!! I know what you mean about being in control. I was responsible for a barn with 5 horses on 12 acres. I set up their feed & fed, took care of the entire barn, mucked stalls, groomed them all, turned them out and brought them in at night; one couldn't be let out with the others because he'd fight with the mares... and I worked about 9 hrs a day 5-6 days a week.. The other 2 the owners would give me a "break," too bad I don't live near you (wherever you are LOL 😆) because we'd get along SO great!!! I work very hard And treat each one like they are my own...Id love to intern with you.. If you need one who has over 20 years experience & would be willing to eat, sleep, breathe & live the farm, DM me 😂🐎 And since I can't afford my own horse anymore, I'd probably get to ride more than just paying for lessons. I've been riding since I was 5 and also had a satanic pony who tried to kill me on a regular basis. Then when I got older I leased (for free) a AQHA who at 5 was SEVERELY neglected & through diet, exercise & training turned her into a gorgeous hunter... I was approached at EVERY show by folks wanting to buy her or know who her Sire and or Dame was. Then we found a Bay Warmblood out in a field--rang the doorbell & asked about him, we got him for $800.00 he was THE MOST incredible jumper EVER (1 day bareback, we accidentally found out that he had extensive dressage training as well)!! But again he needed diet & training.when I was done with him he had a deep rich Carmel coat, 4 white socks to his hocks and his tail grew out thick and to the ground... we barn kept our show horses but they got plenty of PLAY time, we just couldn't take the chance of them getting hurt by other horses in the pasture. So we'd work them hard and we'd let them have plenty of plat time & trail time as well.... I've owned thoroughbreds, Warmbloods, Quarterhorses and that little satanic pony... But I've ridden just about EVERY kind there is, except Friesans! I just need brush up on and lessons for jumping. I basically had to quit & sell the horses just when I hit about 2' double jumps & hadn't shown in any jump classes yet..
I've always been a very passionate person about horses and I've ridden 7 times. Surprisingly I can say I've rode western and English and I've jumped before. I'm a very fast learner, very bold, always ready for anything, super confident, fun, understanding, super hard working type gal. Unfortunately though horses has never been an option for me. My father is in the military and as much as he sees me and how badly I want horses he can't make it happen as it would just be unfair to the horses. When you were talking about wanting to clone riley and have little rileys everywhere I was like "you need me then." Cuz I'm just a lot like Riley in the sense that I'm hard working and I go and get what I want. I still remember the first time I rode i wasn't doing anything wrong it was just the horse I was on. She was named Palace, a thorough (15.7hh) and she was my father's friends wifes horse. She had a really bad temper but his wife thought shed be perfect to put me on. We were trotting on lunge line and the horse got pissed off at the barns blue heeler who was OUTSIDE the arena we were in just trying to eat. She reared up and I fell off and then she continued to throw a fit. I was perfectly fine rather than bloody elbows and got right back up ready to try again. The wide apologized repeatedly and my dad was back at the house with the husband so I was alone. I wanted to try again and she decided to tack up Lucky. He was a gorgeous bay American quarter gelding (16.5hh) and my dads friend tried to give us lucky since he was so perfect with me and they couldn't keep him much longer. We couldn't keep him but I enjoyed my few times riding him. He was the horse I jumped on and also the first horse I cantered with. Thank goodness things changed and they kept lucky. I can't wait to see him again if I ever do.
When you said about lesson horses having a lot to teach you, I started crying. My heart horse was a lesson pony and I was so scared to ride him at first. Rode and loved him for the 7 years of his life
I don't have any inspiration out there but you, you inspire me. I have my barn since 2 years ago (already wow) and Monday, I move out this barn for moving to a big barn, my dream barn where I'm gonna develop my team for the competitions, where I can give lessons and where I can take horse in boarding and you inspire me to be better, you motivate me with your energy, your passion in your videos, how you ride because we have the same riding and I found very nice! So, thank you very much for how you are! :) I have 26 years old and I live in Quebec, Canada if you wanted to know where your followers come! :P
I loved your answer to the working student. To mean it did not sound mean because its the truth. I know top riders that have the same expectation and when you apply to be a working student it is to be working. I have never been a true working student in my book but I took care of 8 horses and riding 5 of them a day without help. I did everything wake up at 5:30am to not going up to the house till 9pm. (I was forced to come up otherwise I would have stayed down at the barn that whole time because they is always something to be done) I have always had a really go work ethic and not only do to take direction well but I'm good at doing things without being told. I just wanted to write this to say that your expectation for a working student is everyone else expectation.
I honestly love TBs sooo much, I rode a lesson horse who I believe was an ex-shower and as much as he was a brat with jumping sometimes he was an amazing horse.
I love this horse named Slew at my ranch. I love him but he got sick. He is a bay with dapples and is the best. He help you with grooming him and he has no problems with the bridle.
Don’t feel insecure, that was a great video, we get to know you better!!!!! And thank you for being a responsible barn owner, because we have to do what’s best for everyone. As long as the horses are well taken care of, that’s what important. I just don’t like people asking a lot more money for just turn out... if you have to exercice them, then fine. But you don’t allow people to come, why do you charge more for turn out! I get that it takes time but still. I’m still allowed in the barn, since my mare is getting closer to foal. But I’m the only one and I clean everything I touch!!
Stephanie I love your channel! I’ve been riding for about three years and don’t get me wrong I love my barn and trainer it’s just I feel stuck. Like I haven’t been improving I think the majority of it is my fear and anxiety. This leads me to say this I admire your way of training and I wish you could be my trainer. Anyways, sending good wishes!
I dont ride English..and im for sure a nervous beginner rider wanting to move forward. I absolutely LOVE watching your channel..DONT be insecure you are absoluetly gorgeous..perfect body..thick and fit..PERFECT. Im insecure too but try and believe what im saying because i know the struggle
You are beautiful and gorgeous and have the best personality! No matter what you choose to do with your videos I will still watch them and love them. You have inspired we to jump for the first time in forever!!
I loved this video! It answered so many of my questions and I thank you! I love your channel sooo much and want to do what you do when I get older. Thank you for your channel I learn so much! Btw you are literally gorgeous don’t be self conscious ☺️😊🐴😍😍😍❤️
Honestly your such an inspiration, I'm only two years deep in my training career, this will be my second season with students (if all is well). You are so level headed and open, I love that!
I’m a working student and I’m usually pretty fast but always feel bad if I have to ask questions if I forget or if a horse is very very dirty I get scared that I’m not allowed to wash them
I Am a working student and I have to clean stalls water buckets feed tack up and untack brush wash and take care of 18 horses at the moment and oh yeah I clean the barn like if I see that the hall needs to be swept I don't ask should I do this I grab a broom and brush the hall lol just saying I can work for you also I only get to ride 1 hour on Saturday if I work 4 days a week for 5 hours an evening I am working so I can afford a horse!
I love watching your videos. I am getting into to riding the past couple years and have been taking lessons off and on, but recently I have been getting more into it. I would have loved to ride at your barn but I am close to and hour and a half away from your barn. Maybe one time we will meet at a show!
i wish i could be you student worker, in the past i worked 26 hours a week and rode 3 horses a day occasionally pony rides too. it was so fun! but you are absoutely right work ethic is extremely important! PS love your channel and barn fam, say hi for me!!
I Wish so badly I could ride at your barn. I live in NYC in there only one barn that I can get to, and I always feel uncomfortable there because no one there is super friendly. and no one has the same passion that I do. I really wanna train horses and show but I feel like my riding/training is heavily set back because of my barn and where I live. Ive been jumping for around 3 or 4 years and they have pretty much never bumped the jumps up and I feel like every lesson I'm staying at the same pace and no going anywhere with my riding. I also just love how friendly and chill your barn seems. But the one fun thing about where I live is that this small little 'stable' run by this rlly old couple comes into the city in the summer and I'm a working student there and go to the barn everyday for like 9 hours and I love it so much! but they never really let me ride which I find to be unfair cause Im there from 8-5 ish. and hen I do ride it's only for 15 minutes which is basically just a warm up. but yea thats my sob story hehe. I just really needed to get that off my chest to the fellow equestrians
I love your new intro this was very informational😂and you and I would love to have lessons with you❤️❤️also you shouldn’t be self conscious you are so beautiful and are so nice ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Riding is so expensive, right now I’m half leasing [$150/month] and I work for my trainer exercising lesson horses who are out of work, cleaning, etc. I get free lessons in exchange for my time at the barn! - also I’ve been experimenting with digital art and I could come up with some designs if you’d like
when she said i wish i could find a couple more kids with the same drive and passion as Riley i was like i'm right here but seriously if i did live in your area i would so go to your barn
it seems that some working students have it so much better then we do in the uk iam a working student at a riding school through a college alongside 2 staff iam there for 10 hours 5 days per week but due to the virus my course isnt running at this time so iam only going down 3 days per week which is a shame since i really enjoy it and its something ive done for a long time. i really hope this clears up some time soon my mom is going through chemo so her immune system is compromised and we are trying to limit her risk else i would still go down the 5 days per week iam 16 by the way i hope to have a horse like slough one day x stay safe
It would mean the world to me if you liked and replied this comment because my mom and my dad never let me get a horse but while watching your vids I loved 🐎 horses
I am getting a horse in about a mouth or so. he is about 23 he is a gelding and I was wondering if you had any tips he will also have a buddy who is a mini horse
@Stephanie Prince ..Hi i was wonder if i could get some advice on my jumping i do take lessons but at the moment there canceled. so can you give me some advice, when i jump i two point WAYYYY to early ive been working on it and ive tried counting strides and a bunch of other stuff do you have any tips i can have ? lots of love❤️
i know i said “you know” like 5,000 times but let’s just move past that, there’s a reason i ride horses and don’t talk for a living and that’s because i’m clearly not very good at talking 😂 hope you guys enjoy and if you want me to film another q&a let me know!!!

I would love this video too
First thing I saw was the blanket and my jaw dropped and I just thought, "I have that same blanket!!!"
Can you do a tour of the barn specifically you’re living quarters? Thank you
My trainer is a teacher and so she rarely gets to actually ride her horse
Aww that’s so sad . My trainer is able to ride but recently fell and damaged her ribs .

Riding is so expensive, right now I’m half leasing [$150/month] and I work for my trainer exercising lesson horses who are out of work, cleaning, etc. I get free lessons in exchange for my time at the barn!
- also I’ve been experimenting with digital art and I could come up with some designs if you’d like
Omg! You answered my question and to me I feel so lucky since ur my favourite youtuber
when she said i wish i could find a couple more kids with the same drive and passion as Riley i was like i'm right here but seriously if i did live in your area i would so go to your barn
I love Riley!! I want a Riley riding with me lol 😂
LOVE your boyfriend comments!!! Take care of yourself.
I just got to the notification love u
Hiii quick question, if you are on the equestrian team are you allowed to bring your own horse? Someone plz answer!
your so awesome! i always look forward to your videos. 💗😊
it seems that some working students have it so much better then we do in the uk iam a working student at a riding school through a college alongside 2 staff iam there for 10 hours 5 days per week but due to the virus my course isnt running at this time so iam only going down 3 days per week which is a shame since i really enjoy it and its something ive done for a long time. i really hope this clears up some time soon my mom is going through chemo so her immune system is compromised and we are trying to limit her risk else i would still go down the 5 days per week iam 16 by the way i hope to have a horse like slough one day x stay safe
You're such a good trainer
Do you have any advice about starting to jump 3 feet
Pauline Cummins just forget about it and know that the horse you are riding will just bring you over the jump if your horse is well trained
It would mean the world to me if you liked and replied this comment because my mom and my dad never let me get a horse but while watching your vids I loved 🐎 horses
Sorry. She didn’t reply
