  • VHS copy of 1" reel-to-reel master tape. Uploaded the whole thing because I work in TV and think it's cool. There were two wave-offs, scroll to 7min if you just want to see the race. TV production "work parts" including "color" shots and the "close" after the race.

Awesome! Thanks for all the uploads! I grew up watching the 1991 Runoffs on VHS. I watched that thing a thousand times as a kid.

Thank you for sharing! I feel like a 7 year old, over at a friends house, geeking out over all of the channels and programs available on satellite TV.

Man, Joe Spoasto was racing Atlantics all the way back in *1980*????? I remember him B/C he only got one shot at the big time, in the 1990 CART season finale at Laguna Seca. Started last (27th) and finished 17th, an astonishing achievement considering that he was driving a year-old Lola and an outdated Cossie for Dick Simon.

Oh, yeah. I swear, Dick Simon tried so hard to get so many talented (but poor) open-wheel drivers into the show, but having crap equipment was how he did it. IIRC, Joe actually had some Pro Atlantic wins.

In the early 80's before all the feeds were scrambled we could watch network backhauls on C band dishes. Brokaw in Mexico asking where the hell do I stand? Johnny Carson talk during the breaks. Good stuff.

“The starter was alerted to the fact that the WTBS talent had completely flubbed the pace lap, and they’ll get another chance! “ 😂😂😂😂😂

Who is that WTBS talent and why on earth did he mess up the start two times?

    • @ryanward6386

@@rolux4853Mike Joy and David Hobbs by the sound of it. And the two aborted starts had nothing to do with them. They just played it up for laughs.

great job by Ken Dunn fellow SCCA from SF region, very low budget team nobody tried herder in thiose days I raged against him many times nicest guy in the paddock nobody tried harder

John Della Penna Dude...are you really Della Penna Motorsports, or just a fan using the name? Whether you are or not, I thought Dunn got into Pro Atlantics for awhile, but can't find any video of it. Over here in SEDIV, I lost track of a *lot* of the good west coast drivers. How far up 'the ladder' did he go? I remember most of the '80s had that split east/west coast thing going on.

So wait, I'm confused. Is Mike Joy trying to tell us that Formula Atlantic autos are pure-bred racing cars, single-seaters, open-wheeled machines? He's just not being clear at *all.*
