My mother reacted the same #hispanic household. I am married with my wife now and I have a 5 month old baby. I learned to let things go for my old sanity. I still hold resentment and I refuse to be around my parents. They haven’t met my daughter either because I AM not ready. I learned that I had to make my own family. I’ve been with my wife for 7 years married for 2, one baby later. It’s hard asf but it’s up to us to live our life and live our truth and create our happiness.
I went through something similar with my mom. It’s definitely very difficult to understand why they don’t accept you and won’t accept you. The relationship with my mom got a little better when I moved out, she still doesn’t accept my relationship. It hurts that her beliefs are more important than my happiness but there is nothing I can do. I do have hope that the day I decide to get married she will be there and show support. I hope she is. We all came to experience different scenarios in which we all learn from them. No one is perfect i bet your mom as well has some hard experiences she has keeped to herself. This makes me so sad. I can’t imagine hearing my mother say this to me. Someone who should give you unconditional love and be ACCEPTING no matter what!! YOU’RE HER DAUGHTER!!! It’s not fair people in the LBGQ community have to go through this. Like why does it have to be so hard and complicated to come out. You’re just being true to yourself! Your mom should want this for you to be honest!! What… does your mom want you to not be happy or hide for the rest of your life!?! It’s not fair. This should be more normal and talked about. You’re the same iris as before! Nothing has changed she just knows you like girls now!! Ugh . I hate this for you. This makes me so upset seeing you upset. Society and religion brain washes some people it’s sad😔😢 thank you for sharing your story. This will help so many people wanting to come out to their family who are strict❤️
It’s been a year now since I’ve came out to my family and some extended family members that I trust and recently I’ve found the courage to come out to my dad. At the moment I’ve been trying to figure out how to come about it because he’s always been so strict about gender roles and religion and he gets so angry so fast and it gets scary so it took me a long time to get the courage and not have that plummeting feeling every time I think of bring it up. It’s hard for me to go near him sometimes because my stomach drops at just the thought of him snapping at me so aggressively and saying whatever bad stuff he wants to say to me. I feel like it’s been too long since I’ve come out to not say anything to him. Like I’m lying to him and myself. I feel guilty about hiding it. I keep planning to tell him but then I chicken out and don’t. It’s been a handful of days since I’ve made up my mind to come out to him but I’m afraid because I don’t have a support system to turn to if all goes bad. I just hope I’ll end up with an okay relationship with him after it all and have it not totally disintegrate and turn into something so horribly bad.
