      Hey Eck, I don’t know if you’ll see this comment but I have an idea for a few possible videos if you’re running out of ideas. How about a few videos of the ships that each faction used after the Battle of Endor in Canon, Legends and EU. An example would be the Penta-Star Allignment using the Vengence-Class Dreadnought etc. Keep up the great content. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

    I think you missed a pretty important detail, these missiles aren't air defense, they were supercommando sent to take out LAATs. The use of Y-wings in this case is also pointless because not only are they quite big, but the whole infrastructure of the city is under a big dome and using them would probably end up with unnecessary losses. Sending Bo Katan fighters would probably lead to even greater losses in gunships because I'm sure they were also carrying soldiers who started to protect the invading fleet at the right time.

    • @coopergunter6462
      @coopergunter6462 4 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      The city is under a dome but there would be defenses of some sort on the landing ports. The mandalorians would put up something how ever crude it might be it would be there and need to be dealt with. However that is a good connection on the missiles I completely did not consider that they were fired by the supercomandos that adds an element to the later quote in rebels that “ a mandalorian with a jet pack is a weapon”

    • @gamespcfull7201
      @gamespcfull7201 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@ThatDragonGuy Probably it would be, but in my opinion tanks were used as anti-aircraft weapons or as a defence of docks against counterattack, we can't see where they used them, additionally, contrary to appearances, the city also has big squares where AT-TE can guard the order after defeating the supercommandos.

    • @gamespcfull7201
      @gamespcfull7201 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

And the AT TE canon is to powerfull. Those smaller walkers are better in a city but still are open toped so somthing like a ATST whould be the solution. Good vs infantery and not too big but still armored. And smaller guns with a higher fire rate. And you need somthing with AA capabilities i whould use a juglenaught tank if i had the dropships for it. It got enoth air missiles and armor so if HEAVy supported by infantery that cleares out sectors it could stop any counter attack by the enemy.

    Something I appreciated about this episode is that it neatly answered something I've been wondering for a while now: Obviously the only way Maul could escape from Palpatine is if Sheev LET him get away, so how does Maul on the loose play into Palpatine's plans? And the reveal that the whole attack on Mandalore was intended by Maul as a trap for Obi-wan gives a pretty good reason: Letting Maul go is a ploy by Palpatine to get Anakin separated from Obi-wan. If Ahsoka hadn't been in the picture, then Obi-wan could very well have been the one going to Mandalore while Anakin went to Corosant.

    • @victorhough9474

    • @therealnicnac4
      @therealnicnac4 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This, my thinking is that Sheev wanted things to happen mid assault making it difficult for them to call it off/ abort. Obi wan likely would have been in the fighting etc and committed to taking down maul and anakin wouldve come alone to coruscant. Sheev knows maul is good enough to keep Kenobi occupied long enough for order 66 to be in play and theres no way he escapes deathwatch and the clone forces.

    • @Vandicoup

      @finaldarkfire -- Maul: Son of Dathomir already answered all of that--it was an unfinished 4-episode story arc that they chose not to finish for this series finale which is weird since it was a huge gap in the show after all. This is why they should've gone and animated that story as well. There's so many people that still haven't read that comic or know all the key events that even took place in that comic.

    The battle might be short, yes, but you have to take into consideration that the enemies are living beings. Not endless wave after wave of droids--who can be replaced in a matter of seconds. The Republic is simply flushing out a group of #Mauldalorian soldiers who are already severely limited in numbers due to their immense losses in the SoD comic & other previous engagements.

    I think the big things are:
    The AT-TE has heavy armor, but also seems to have a grappling ability, which could allow it to utilize open spaces vertically.
    The immediate attack with all ships allows the Republic to lock down the city quickly, without giving Maul an opportunity to escape. The reduced number of defenders means that in all likelihood, it's a search and destroy that's necessary, not necessarily stiff urban combat on all fronts.

    I initially agreed with your statement that a force of strike fighters sent in first to suppress or destroy anti-air defenses (a SEAD/DEAD mission) before the gunships carrying troops would have been a smarter plan, but I'm starting to think that the Docks didn't actually have any anti-air defenses. It's possible that the missiles that struck the gunships in the opening volleys of the air battle were not actually surface-to-air missiles but jetpack missiles launched by Mandalorian super-commandos hiding in the clouds, considering they emerge from the cloud layer seconds later. If the only air power or defenses the Mandalorians had were their super-commandos, then perhaps it'd be too difficult to intercept them with actual fighters and Rex's forces would just have to expect to have troopers and ARC troopers fight Mandalorians from gunship to gunship, making liberal use of jetpacks.

    I don't think it will be over by next episode. Since Maul planned for this to happen he obviously doesn't plan to have killed Kenobi then let the republic take Mandalore. I think he's going to have the crime syndicates come in now the republic has arrived to attack them and keep them trapped there until they wipe them all out.
    While an AT-RT would be much better than the AT-TE given that pretty much all the battles taking place in this city are in 3 dimensions as everybody has jet packs pretty much none of their vehicles are useful. It's a shame the republic doesn't have anything like the STAAP to use in these cases.

    The only reason I can see why the republic didn’t send fighters into the battle was because I think they stuck with Obi-Wan and Anakin to support the space battle over Coruscant.

    I don't wanna just guess, but I feel that the missiles that hit the LAAT's came from the jet packs of the Mando's.

    I agree with the point about what the strategy that 501st used during the invasion, but I believe that the best explanation for this is that all these happened in a sudden, which leaves Rex and Ahsoka does not have the best equipments to conquer the city.

    I have a feeling Palpatine is using Maul to establish a Republic presence on Mandalore and possibly kill another Jedi (Kenobi had he left instead of Ahsoka).
