@ndnd7614 because T1 is absolutely blown blg and LNG. As an LPL watcher Jdg yes is good but their series have been messy (as shown in the Swiss v.s LNG and just recently v.s KT) and regular lpl season. While T1 (we didn't know what form they would show since regular season T1 was in a ROUGH position. But recently T1 is literally spring form again which to remind you basically #1 in the world at the time. Who ever wins the semis on Sunday will be the favorite to win world's.
Faker not only has 8 out of 8 semifinals, he also currently has 5 out of 7 finals, maybe after sunday it could be 6 out of 8, so from the 8 times he made it to worlds semifinals, he advanced to finals almost 75% of the time. The only times he didn't advance, were in 2019 and 2021 against EU's and KR's first seeds. He played once against each EU's first and second seed, thrice against KR's first seed and twice against the LPL first seed and once against their second seed.
So that's a win rate of 100% in quarters, 75% in semis, and 66% in finals, with a total 50% win rate of Worlds (won 4 of 8 Worlds participated in). Some very clean, satisfying numbers
Jatt and Emily, you’re my all-time favorite analysts, amidst all the amazing analysts in all the major regions. Thank you for all the work you put into making Competitive League so much more interesting. You are both wonderful to get to see ^_^
This is random I hope Emily sees this, the “Cheers” part from BLG is a slogan from their video platform Bilibili, their mascot says “干杯” = “Cheers”. Even at formal meetings/presentions they say cheers as well.
pretty sure T1 would attack bot + neeko at their bans and would never ban Rakkan while JDG would attack mid and support especially range support. Zeus and Faker are very realiable laners while Knight is having a bad time and only got carried heavily by Ruler alone even 369 is inting for reason, T1 winning scenario is on the hand of their junglers mood while JDG is in the hand of the God of ADC Ruler.
One "neutral" reason people call Xiaohu "delete account" is that the Mandarin pronunciation (the tones in particular) of "delete account" sounds closer to the English pronunciation of "Xiaohu". I believe people picked that up from some Western casters.
Is it just me or is the JDG Golden Road storyline wildly underplayed on the caster desk? I get that people LOVE the underdog story (SKT)/BLG), but I think you can build a deeper underdog story by leaning more into the dominance of JDG. They're 2 series from having a perfect season. They would be the greatest team ever created... The perfect team completing the perfect season. Unless, Faker and SKT/Bin and BLG can take them down.
The underdog story for T1 isn't why it's so popular on its own. It's combined with the T1 vs LPL narative that pushes it ahead. You have to remember it's taking place in Korea, so having T1 be the final hope facing off against undefeated JDG IS basically an anime level story arc.
In my opinion Blg is the best story, even moreso than T1. This team was a newly formed team, where every member is from a unique team. The brought in Xun, someone with a lot of potential from IG. They then were underestimated at every turn, deemed the worst Asian team ever in an Msi. Their growth till now, completely demolishing almost every team at their path.. truly has been amazing to watch. This team has so much grit, resilience, passion and heart and truly put in the work and effort to get things done.
BLG's story is by far the best for anyone who knows even just a little about them. Even in this podcast, people were shitting on Yagao despite his positive impact on the team. Every member just had so much baggage to overcome to get to where they are now: Bin learning how to play for the team instead of being the Chovy of toplane Xun proving he was more than just a Nidalee/Kindred 2-trick carry jungler Yagao getting kicked out of JDG despite carrying them to Worlds last year, goes up against his childhood friend Knight the entire year and finally overcomes this hurdle Elk proving that Chinese ADCs still have what it takes to win On showing that he wasn't just the Hylissang of the East and could do more than flipping Also, we could finally put to rest the narrative that 5 Chinese players can't win. The official LoL streams still have thousands of these copy pastas everytime we see a Chinese team. The channel mods don't ban the toxic haters, but rather the ones defending against these claims.
Rooting for the team with the better story? Does JDG completing the golden road, something that hasn’t been done before and hyped by the broadcast, not have a better story than Faker winning worlds again for the nth time? When you look back at this worlds in the future, which story would be more impressive?
Faker winning his first world championship in 2013, now a decade on, wins it again, ON HOME TURF, where he has never had the opportunity to compete at worlds before. After coming so close last year. Seems like a pretty damn good story to me
Brother, we can easily have another golden road next year or even 10 years from now, but our time for faker getting another trophy is rapidly dwindling. And before you say it isn't meaningful: it would make faker the person with the most number of worlds wins (no longer shared with bengi) and the only person to win worlds again years after his last one (duke doesn't really count since he wasn't a starter), basically cementing a legacy of longevity that would take at least another 10 years to match. JDG reaching a new achievement is great, but faker's history means that any achievement he gets is more meaningful than if someone else got it.
