Love it, the music and production is fantastic. I've never fired a muzzle loader but I got to witness one being fired first hand when I was 13, it's like being around an old muscle car, nothing new makes the same sound or smell and I think that's the beauty of it. 🤙
Denny Great video, Thank you for the nostalgia trip. It was great to see the traditional Long Rifles in action. I only noticed 2 half stocks....fine by me. Nothing against THEM, but my love for the longs is deep! Please keep up your BP videos. Stoney
Man I miss that, thank you for doing this! Danny please break that habit of blowing down that barrel, that’s a Hollywood misnomer. It’s very very dangerous and also introduces moisture to the barrel. I personally witnessed a guy do that and just as he pulled his head away it went the gun fired, evidently he had a long hang fire we were shooting on the line at a busy shoot and he got distracted and didn’t realize his gun didn’t fire. And blowing down the barrel does nothing on a woodswalk wait to the next station to load any “ember” will be out by then. If your on the line go to the bench and Load. In 35 years of doing this I have seen a lot, but have never seen a gun hold an ember and fire when powder is poured. That’s the number one reason you don’t load from the horn.
It is customary at most western shoots to blow down the barrel. We don't have the NMLRA lawyers breathing down our necks. We are smart enough to know if a rifle has fired.
Mountaineer LOL I understand what you’re saying but it has nothing to do with being smart has everything to do with becoming a habit and muscle memory and doing just the wrong time I do not know if you know if the legendary Park healer over here on the eastern side of the stage but I witnessed him I have a rifle go off at the loading bench and put ramrod through the brim of his hat because somebody talk to him and distracted him
Mountaineer Customary or not it is no more than Hollywood lie that needs to be done Putting a rifle to your mouth with a loaded or unloaded is stupidity
