For me Ursa's voice pitch is too high to lul me to sleep, and slowing down to 0.75x is still producing audible glitches (talking to you, YT), so it's not an option for me.
The thing I’m so appreciative of from your videos Ursa is: you suggest the non meta moves. Settle on turn 4 or 5? Why not! No scouts out the gate? There’s a reason for that! It’s so great for mastering deity. Yes, the meta gets you the beat deity. But, learning when to “break the rules” is how you consistently beat deity. You’re the best bear Sleepy… oh yeh and you too, Ursa. Thank you both for the wonderful videos.
Even if I'm a seasoned player, I love these videos. Here is another tip for newer players: If you have this much of a low production start, it is okay to restart :D and also, it might not be a good idea to go for a religion when one of your neighbors is Spain (who is a civ which builds holy sites in every city) and the other one is rushing Stonehenge (you can see Shaka building it towards the end), you start spending so much faith just to defend your religion or go to war to kill their missionaries
One suggestion for options during combat, at 29:52 and 33:30 you could mention that crossing the river also provides a defensive strength, so even if the other tile is also a floodplain, it can often be advantageous to do so because it means the barbs won't have enough movement to attack you the same turn (unless it's a ranged barb). That, plus if the opposite shore is a hill and/or a forest, you can potentionally tank much stronger enemies.
Thank you, I have been so bored I was watching 'If Bethesda made Cyberpunk' videos, don't watch them, the first one is funny but true, but they do wear on you. This is a whole lot better!!!
I have nearly 400 hours in civ 6 but still my god this helps. I mostly play deity and can win if I can be bothered not to just play incredibly tall so this will be a pleasant help.
So happy for this series! I've been struggling with slow starts as Arabia lately so I'm hoping to get some transferable skills from this (even tho I've beaten deity before, you're a much better player still)
I do enjoy your voice, it is delightful. I’ve beaten the game on Deity once but I don’t think that counts because I was using Hammurabi and he’s all kinds of broken. I deliberately went for science since that seems to be his weakest victory type and it was basically low diff at worst. His other advantages are so overwhelming that he can translate them into whatever victory he wants. Yong Li is a more literal representation of that strat but still… 😂
just picked up this game and have absolutely no idea on how to play it. i have experience on Crusader Kings (2&3) but other than that I'm really new. so this helped me out a lot! thanks!
You forgot (to mention) a delegation also gives diplomatic visibility, which is useful in many ways. And the AI will for some reason always accept a delegation the turn you meet them but will often be reluctant to afterwards.
I have recently come back to playing civ and i have been doing well on deity. I'm winning most of my games just not sub 200. My biggest piece of advice is you got to crack a few eggs to make an omelette. In my recent game I lost a few early units who had some levels ups. I was really annoyed, but then late game i had so much gold and production I just bought armies and armadas. Also don't always play pangaea there is more to just land warfare
Hello, i really like your videos. You are making CIV 6 more understandable for players with less hours. You make quality content, keep it up! Also, I would like to ask a couple questions, please :) 1. I noticed you didn't focus your cities to prioritize food (automatically) while they are low on population. I do that to have 4-5 population and it's like a snowbal, later you will have much more production just by having more tiles worked. What do you thing of this strategy? It's a NO go or situational? If so, explain please :) also i noticed you didn't prioritize any focus in a first city, is that he best strategy? If so, why? 2. When you wanted to deal with barbarian camp, you bought another warrior. Is it better option in that situation than slinger? It can be upgraded to archer and as you said, range units can give damage without receiving, so I wonder why warriors. Is it because of higher health, more bulky? Thank you very much, I really learned a lot today and these questions are just to make the clarification more clear for me.
How do you decide Warriors vs Slingers early game? You mentioned about Slinger spam strategy but then built mostly Warriors jw when to go for one or the other.
Looking at this start, I wonder if the playlists can sort games by genre, like if I want to look for games where Ursa had a tough time (the Nader Shah and new Saladin games), there will be a playlist for it. And other genres like tutorials, TSL specials, epic starts, and so on.
Thank you for all of the awesome guides! I'd actually gotten my first deity win as Tokugawa the day before you posted this! Your last video really helped me with districts. I definitely still struggle to snowball, and I've only really gathered that monumentality settling and builders help so that. If at all possible, could anyone help with what districts, improvements, or trades help with snowballing?
Snowballing is going as wide as possibel really! Gold is great to focus on as the more of it you have, the more of it you can funnel into the places in your empire you need it = )
Never beaten deity since the game went live. Best i've done is immortal religious victory about 2 years ago, since then i only play prince cuz thats the most fair i find, 50/50 win loss.
Great series! Obviously i like playing germany, but never finished a Ludwig game. so weird. I realize, that 99% of the times Ludwid will play better, it just seems too much somehow. hope this series will get me hot for Ludwig. Well, you know how i mean....
Am I the only one who first thought placing a commercial hub on a resource(rice) would give +3 adjacency? +1 for the resource, +2 for C-hub and 0,5 for district. Why isn't that the case? If you settle or district on a rice, you don't remove it like you do with woods. And if you place a district on a strategic resource it gives you both adjacencies to the regular Industrial zone. Also strange how districts with 4,5 adjacency combined with a +100% policy card are only 8 rather than 9.
Commercial hubs don't get adjacency from resources, only the Hansas do. And the 4.5 adjacency is rounded down to 4 before the 2x multiplier is applied... 0.5 adjacency (aka minor adjacencies) only take effect if you can get two of them to get the full 1 pt boost.
I just beat deity with wil the of leaders now i will start my journey with the civ6 dlc leaders.. which might be even easier because of the power creep
In today's episode we get taught how to play Germany on deity difficulty by a bear. German chocolate makes an early appearance, Spain is a pain, and the Zulu also makes an appearance, and becomes an early trade partner. How will this game shake out, turn in next time, same Ursa time, same Ursa channel!
0:43 to the new players, you may think that this is a joke... it is not, the number of times I've actually reached 3am playing Civ has to be in the dozens (that's probably amateur hours as well) 15:45 ah yes, an Ethiopian's best friend. Every time I play Menelik I find myself muttering "are you a hill?" as I'm looking at potential settle spots
If military strength is just calculated from total melee strength, is that why the AI is sometimes very happy to just send all their units into an Archer meat grinder - because they think you're weak?
That's it! Stong melee units project power better than siege or ranged for that reason. It's also why your power level goes down if you corp or army troops up!

Hi Ursa, total novice when it comes to files etc. I downloaded the file from discord, what do I do with it on my computer? what do I open the file with?
I have had the game for the past few years now with 900 hours, but I have not touched deity yet. Perhaps after this guide I will at least do immortal and then give deity a try. I'm smoking the emperor ai so it's probably time I stepped up in civ 6.

depends on how many people you have around you - 7 to 8 beats nothing if you never find that 17! But as the game goes on and you have more options, totally agree
I have nearly 2k hours in this game but still look forward to all of your videos as I am guaranteed to learn something new each time. Thanks Ursa!
I feel the same and I have 2k+ on 3 different machines
I like that you acknowledge that some of us like to put you on in the background so that you can CIV us to sleep 😴
I still find it super weird but sure!!

I watch him all the time on the way to sleep. But I really don't watch TV so I wouldn't take it personally.
0:08 The answer: Play as Russia, limit turns to 1, settle a city, hit next turn! It might take a few times but it's easier than other ways! ;)
Ooo, that’s smart
It’s patched I think. I tried it some time ago to no avail
@@Achilles053 It's definitely still possible, I did it a couple of weeks ago. It does take a a few tries and you have to be playing Russia.
@@inputsh ah ok. Might have to go again
As much as i love spuddy and boes, ursa is emerging as the civ6 king. Ahaha i love this guy, and i hope 2024 civ give ursa achieves his goal ;)

I’ve been playing civ for around 15 years and I still use your videos too fall asleep! 😂

This is indeed a good take! XD Never restart though, always play through I say!!
Great as ever. With the stresses of real life. I love nothing more than to watch an episode of Ursa. Really gives me something to look forward to. 👍👍
Very sweet to read = )
One suggestion for options during combat, at 29:52 and 33:30 you could mention that crossing the river also provides a defensive strength, so even if the other tile is also a floodplain, it can often be advantageous to do so because it means the barbs won't have enough movement to attack you the same turn (unless it's a ranged barb). When I started watching your channel I was usually playing emperor and now I can consistently beat deity.
That's awesome! Huzzah!!!
I think this is more like an compassing guide for all difficulties, not just diety. Great vid, fun and learned lots
Hopefully so! Deity is a bit more agressive but the fundamentals will remain = )

Arabia is a hard one to crack to be fair - hold out till the medieval and you'll be fine!
Even though I've played over 1k hours between civ 5 and 6 it's still really nice to hear your rationale behind some of your decisions.
Glad you're enjoying!
Lots of good tips in this video that i hadnt thought of!

loving this! thank you for the videos. you're amazing and always learn a lot from them!

I can't play CK3 at all so we should trade notes XD
Always a pleasure to watch your videos, very light and entertaining
Huzzah! Thank you for watching = )
This is incredible useful... Even though I already beat deity once, I used domination Hungary so it doesn't count cause that's how broken it is.
Very late bear, but looking forward to this in depth series! I always learn so much.
Huzzah! Finally another in depth game!

one of these for tech shuffle is very niche but very appreciated

Love it! Just beat deity with Eleanor with inland sea after your last video.
That sounds like fun!
Always good tips to be had in these...
I can't wait to see what this series turns into!
"I wouldn't normally do this" == "I do this a lot actually, because tempo is everything"
Haha - what I should have said was "this is against standard build order, but here is why I'm ignoring that today!"
The way he exposed me for listening to his voice to sleep 💀. That was creepy 😨 1:42
You forgot (to mention) a delegation also gives diplomatic visibility, which is useful in many ways. And the AI will for some reason always accept a delegation the turn you meet them but will often be reluctant to afterwards.

There is a 4th group! We cant afford civ and watch through others and i greatly appreciate every streamer of it!
The only time I lose on Deity is when the AI beats me to space.
I have more science coming in and they are way ahead of me.
You'll get there. Just gotta try to get to space around T250 or faster. I've rarely, if ever, seen the AI do it faster than that.

Ursa, toward the beginning you talk about a pantheon and religion for those who want to sort of "set and forget" but I think the way the game unfolds you never expand on that that I can find. What pantheon and religion were you talking about?
so a set and forget is something you don't have to actively plan around
work ethic for instance is the opposite - every city needs a high adjacency holy site to make it work
ftw or choral music is in the middle - any holy site will do but every city needs one
set and forget is more like the amenity religion - spread to your cities and you get the passive bonuses without needing to do anything
think more in terms of, does this religion change the way I play the game hugely or does it fit into my original strategy?
