    Legend mate, great honest review. I appreciate walking us through all the little annoyances and ins and outs of the product instead of just saying the positives and make it sound like a sales pitch. We all know we put this stuff through hell. It looks a great price, and suits ya car perfect mate and covers the back door well. Most honest awning review I've seen so far. I think I'll grab one

    Great clip mate… Great little idea what I do with my zips , I put heat shrink on the pullers and that stops the jingling of the zippers 👍

    Great video. There are plenty of other free standing awnings out there, but not many at this price point. To me looks like really good value for money!

      Thanks mate it seems a pretty Reasonable awning for the price there’s another company that makes one similar $2500 i’ll be stuffed I’m gonna spend that much money on something that I just use for a bit of shade occasionally i’ll let everyone know how it’s going in the future cheers

    They are a good looking and well designed awning. Looking to put one on once back in QLD

    I must admit, I do get a bit paranoid about awnings without poles. Will be interesting to see how it holds up long term. Cheers for the tour.

    Still not sold on the freestanding awning. The extra cost, weight, sags over time and holds water.
    You still need to tie it down to ensure run off and still need to install poles to keep it up overnight. I think in the Drifta demo even explains this before they started to make their own freestanding awning.
    What are your thoughts?

    • @Sawadventures67
      @Sawadventures67  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah look it is a cheap awning but pretty well-made and I’m sure there is better awnings out there that are probably double the price it really comes down to your own preferences and what you want to use it for for me it was basically for shade over my car when camping so if it looks like it looks like there is going to be a lot of rain I probably wouldn’t have it out anyway I don’t use it for camping under I only use it for shade I very rarely put the poles up now I have found it’s petty good as a free standing awning yes it definitely needs to be tied down in heavy rain or wind most do as for sagging will keep you posted on that it’s not a big awning so my advice is go with your gut if your not sure go with something else cheers thanks for sharing your thoughts happy camping 👍

      @@Sawadventures67 yeh not really meaning about the quality of your awning more the free standing concept all together. I think the canvas on these types of awnings would have a lot shorter life span.

    Looks good Steve I’m in the market to get a new awning looking at the darche for the forward fold, was looking at the bush company but they are crazy expensive

    • @Sawadventures67
      @Sawadventures67  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah if you just after a cheap awning that does the job I think it’s worth it ,if it something you really want to be using all the time putting a swag under or something you may want to pay for something bit bigger

    Great video Steve, it's been almost a year since you posted this so I'm just wanting to know if you're still happy with the Drifta? I'm about to pull the trigger on one but would love to hear your long term review.

      Overall it has been great only trouble I have had is the bolts that hold the arms up came loose so I have to check them occasionally maybe some lock tight but otherwise it’s doing fine cheers I will definitely do a follow up review cheers

    Great vid Steve 👌 👍 looks like true value for money! The only thing that slightly oncerns me is the material itself. Mind you my experience is with king's crap so I'm sure it's better than that material that makes you feel like you're getting more burnt under the awning than in full sun. How does the material compare to the 30 sec?
    Also, what extra accessories would you say are essential? Poles etc etc
    Cheers mate 👍

      Hi Ben sorry I missed you message overall I’ve been pretty happy with the Drifta awning it suits my purposes mainly just for using shade protection for our vehicle ,as in being able to pull the fridge out and having shade over it not sitting in the hot car the 30 second awning is constructed better in my opinion the material on the Drifta awning does look just as good if not better than it , like I said I wouldn’t have changed it if I didn’t put the 30 second back on the teardrop camper, but the weight saving it fantastic, as for the long term life of the drifta Stockton only time will tell if you can get to one of the stores a check it out for your self accessories better tie down ropes the ones that come with it are hopeless poles not essential but could be handy at times cheers mate thanks for the question

    Looks like @1.5m coverage out on the side of the vehicle, do you find that is enough?

    • @Sawadventures67
      @Sawadventures67  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s plenty good enough for what I’m using it for I think when I put the walls on it’ll make it seem bigger I’m only really using it just for a bit of shade

    Hi why did you change from your 30 second awning , I thought you said you would buy another one any day of the week , just asking

    • @Sawadventures67
      @Sawadventures67  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I still have the 30 second awning I just put it back on my teardrop camper as I said in the video I’m using on it now this one came up so I thought I’d give it ago

    • @Sawadventures67
      @Sawadventures67  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it’s not a real big awning I only bought it because it was light. I don’t use it very much. Just basically wanted it to give me a bit of shade on the vehicle not for camping under. There’s better options out there

      30 second have a new smaller version and I’m pretty sure supapeg have a new one as well both freestanding and tough

  • @christurner68
    @christurner68 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Mate, you would be doing your self an injustice if you do’nt put poles and these people who criticise for putting poles because you want a secure the awning and prevent damage is a common sense and logical thing to do. On saying that the cheap awning that drifta has made in china I would definitely use poles to secure it. The analogy is like not letting your tyre pressure down when driving on soft sand.

    Bush company 270 too heavy! Iron man delta wing hinges too flimsy, drifta light and strong wins!
