I always wanted a WRX. Test drove different model years (WRX 2008, STI 2013, WRX 2016), then earlier this year pulled the trigger on a 2019. I've always driven a manual before and only recently, had a 5 year break having a car with an automatic. It took me about 3-4 moths getting used to the early clutch take up point, 1-2-3 shifting, and other quirks. It is definitely very engaging to drive, I just wish the car was more refined in terms of road noise insulation (I refuse to believe Subaru engineers couldn't find lightweight noise deadening materials), ecu calibrations (I heard it was @#$%&, but didn't realize it was to that extent), better gear ratios. I've driven Golf GLI recently and this car is just a jewell, same power, butter smooth shifting, just pure enjoyment to drive. BUT it is not as confidence inspiring as the WRX in terms of handling. WRX just feels tougher overall. I've driven Honda Accord Sport 2.0 automatic and it's an amazing car minus FWD, doesn't have this instant boost kick in the pants like WRX, and you end up spinning tires all the time getting out of corners. Both cars don't really connect you to the road like WRX or STI do. So I came to terms with my WRX gradually, the more I drive it the better I drive it, the more I start to enjoy it. It hasn't been an easy process though. I guess, the WRX has its own rhythm and it takes some time to get it right to follow it.

The only reason I’m even waiting that long is I’ve never driven a manual car, plus I wanted to get a feel for what the community likes/dislikes about their wrx and overall set up. The only thing that has me hesitating about buying one is I’m not a true car enthusiast. I see the passion some of you have for vehicles and it makes me wonder if I should just stay in my own lane and get an outback or legacy lmao.

And like you I still love this car like the first day I bought it. When I’m hauling ass home from work I feel so grateful to have it. It is my first car though and I have zero experience modding cars. I’m afraid to use the off the shelf tune and go stage 1. Will just have to jump in the water one of these days. I have one too and I bloody love it! I have the recaro seats and they are great. Mine has no rattles. They only annoying thing I have found is that 3 of the doors stopped working. Subaru fixed them all so I can't complain.
Agreed. I've had my 17 REX for almost three years now. Stage two, soon to be E85. Can't beat these cars for the value. AWD turbo, easily modded. High residual value over almost every car out there. It really doesn't have any competition at this price point either. Nice video. Subscribed.
I've a pure stock '19 WRX which I took on a road trip (3 days driving out, 3 back, 8-10 hours each day) and I found the seats to be fine. I'm wondering if you've done some suspension mods which, while lowering it to make it look cool, adversely affected the ride? I've also not been bothered by any rattles in the interior. I'm older. Perhaps I'm just used to how rattily cars used to be, so this fairly new car just seems tight in comparison? (Yes, my hearing is fine. Not THAT old. :) )

I would. I think it’s just completely different once you drive it. I love the rumble. Love the trans, the shifter, the Great performance right off the lot. Plus the bigger wheels and brakes look great. Love the LED lights

I know you had the wrx for a while now and there seem to be a lot of people having negative experience with the WRX. Did you have a lot of issues? If you had to go back, would you buy another car instead of the wrx?
I did not have any issues with mine. Even after having modded and tuned it. Depends on what your price range is though. Type R is a very good option. I would test drive an STI also. Maybe look for a certified one so you can get extended warranty? STI is definitely more fun off the lot. Wrx needs some modding to open it up
I sure regret buying my 2018 limited. Trading it in for a 2019 Scat Pack Daytona Charger. The WRX is just too slow and the only way to make it fast you gotta void the warranty. It was fun around corners and the harman kardon sound system is pretty great, but it wasn't enough for me.
I got the itch and had to go MaPerformance and spend money because it's sad my srt4 blows this car away ten times over . also mine doesn't rattle at all .

My main complaint is the headlights. The base models headlights lack a turn signal. I hate that so much. Plus they're chrome.

The tech in the car is definitely not great. I came from a fully loaded Focus ST. Ford is very good with tech so definitely something i miss
