I absolutely love this channel. I'm not interested in acquiring a job here at all. Pretty much the opposite of what I want to do here. But the insight and the real talk of what the deal is in this country is why I'm subscribed. I'm a new home owner on Long Island and really appreciate the local knowledge. What do you think are the options for work when you are a software developper? I can write iphone and android apps as well windows and macos applications.
Not many that I know of. The Bahamas isn't really a hub for technology.

The Bahamas allows visa-free entry from many countries. But, you'd need to check the list online to see. Look for The Bahamas' Ministry of Foreign Affairs. You will see a list of countries there.
if you have enough money coming into the country and can prove you can afford your stay then you should have no issues. Issues arise if you cannot prove how you will support yourself and where you will be staying as a visitor.

Thanks for this info, it is so useful! I have been offered a job in Nassau. However, I am finding it difficult to assess whether the salary offered is fair as I know life in the Bahamas is expensive. Can you recommend any websites to check what sort of salary I should be benchmarking against? Thank you
Unfortunately, there are no such websites. I'm sorry. Hopefully, we can get there soon because it would be a helpful tool.

Hi Rebecca. Thanks for watching. Honestly, the best way to know which island to choose is to visit one or two. I have a video up that talks about the best Bahamian islands to visit. Watch that one because that will give you an idea of what you may want in your new home. This video explained what you have to do to find a job. Unfortunately, I cannot provide anymore details than that.
you are better off staying in Nigeria . Visit the Bahamas and spend time around locals to get a better feel of how it may be to live there.

Well...you'd first have to have a work permit in order to live and work in the country. That's the first step. Then, you can get a job. There are always companies that are looking for waiters/cleaners/front desk people. Check out my other video where I answer subscribers' questions. I talk about this in that video.

The Bahamas doesn't ordinarily grant work permits for individuals to work as a waiter, etc. If you are working for a Bahamian resident/citizen, they can hire you and secure your work permit.

Hi. Unfortunately, I have never worked for Sandals, so I can't say. It is a beautiful property, though and the island is so beautiful. I think you will enjoy your time in The Bahamas. As for the resort, I couldn't say because like I said, I have never worked there.

Hi there.. Thanks for watching. I get a lot of these questions from my brothers and sisters in Africa. It may be easy for you to travel visa-free to The Bahamas, but you will need a valid work permit to work there. Reputable employers will ask for one. There are people who work under the table, but I do NOT recommend that. You could get deported to your country and put on a stop list. Jobs are scarce now due to Covid-19 and Bahamian will report any foreigner who they perceive is potentially taking a job from them. It's best to visit the country, see if you like it and then go through the proper channels to get work authorization. Thanks!

Hi there. No, you need a company or Bahamian employer to apply for your work permit. You cannot apply on your own. You can contact the Bahamas' Immigration Department for more info. Just do a Google search.

Can you work in the Bahamas on a visit visa?
No. You absolutely cannot do that. You will get arrested and subsequently deported. I do not advise that at all. I used to be a reporter and I can tell you that visitors went through hell after being arrested. Our prison is no joke. If anyone even approaches you to work, no matter how tempting it is, do not accept it. When I covered court hearings, I saw non-Bahamians cry in court because of where they were kept (jail). There are people who get away with it, but you might be the one to get caught. My advice: don't do it. It's just like the US...you can't (or at least you're not supposed) to work on a tourist visa. To my knowledge, you can't. Besides, you have to meet very specific requirements in order to get one.. But, I am not an immigration expert. You can do a search for the Bahamas Immigration Department and go from there. Unfortunately, I cannot link it here because my comment could be flagged. Thanks!

@@ThisBahamianGyal Waitering , Tourism industry , retail and sales , customer services and house keeping .
And you have authorization to work in The Bahamas? If so, there are restaurants, movie theatres, etc that will hire teens. You just have to find a place that interests you and apply. Keep in mind that many places will want to see that you have some sort of experience.

Hi Folake. Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately, I cannot assist you in information regarding a visa. You would have to contact The Bahamas' Immigration Department. You would also have to fall under a certain category in order to get a work visa.

Hey Folake. Are you saying you got your visa to go to The Bahamas already? If so, congratulations! But, if you're saying you applied for one and are eligible to be approved, you will get it. The immigration department may be backed up. And it's like I said in my video...if you want a job, apply through Indeed or one of the online portals. That is the first step. Focus on Nassau, which has the most jobs. Unfortunately, I cannot be of anymore assistance past that. I wish you the best of luck. You will find a job. Thank you for your support of my channel!
