      Κωνσταντίνε, εάν κατά την φάση που το 415 γεμίζει, υπάρξει πρόβλημα στους κινητήρες:
      α) Μπορεί να αδειάσει με κάποιο άλλο τρόπο το νερό που έχει πάρει με σβηστές μηχανές;
      β) Το κρατούν στην επιφάνεια οι πλωτήρες και η άτρακτός ή βουλιάζει;
      γ) Οι καταπακτές που ανοίγουν για να φουλάρει νερό ή μετά για να το αδειάσει πάνω από τη φωτιά, δουλεύουν μηχανικά ή ηλεκτρικά/υδραυλικά; Η λειτουργία τους εξαρτάται από την λειτουργία των κινητήρων ή από άλλο ανεξάρτητο (υπο)σύστημα;

      Archie,
      Ordinarily yes. However this breed of pilot make decisions to fly to protect and to preserve. Where I am from they put restrictions on the pilots to prevent them from having the ability to make those decisions. in 2003, there was a small fire close to my home. There was a restriction in place that had a cutoff time of 1/2 hour before sunset that prevented helicopters already on scene to make water drops. That fire grew to 280k sq acres, burned 2800 homes and killed 15 people because of that rule.

      Of course it was a wrong estimation of the crew during a training mission

      @Archie Bunker Well, because of their kind of job, Canadair pilots must learn to fly under conditions other pilots should learn to avoid; namely the turbulences caused by forest fires.
      Then, if weather conditions were that bad so as to fly, I seriously doubt that it was the crew´s own decision to risk it that pointlessly, as if they were Americans in a Hollywood movie boasting on their iron balls and such. I bet that they just obbeyed orders from their superiors to fly and do this and that. Or else it could have been that bad weather caught them suddely in flight and they had no chance to escape. In other words, it was probably not the crew's decision to risk their lives so pointlessly.
