I can see trying to play weaker characters for easier wins due to lack of character knowledge (though I've never considered that option before), but at the same time I genuinely think the bears look fun to play and I'm considering giving them a try myself.
Bears are fun but you're gonna have to learn some mind games cause they barely have any moves and have trash lows
I highly recommend trying them out, but it does require some strategy that takes a while to learn so you'll have to BEAR with it😅

I main Kuma cause he's a sick ass bear. Picked him without knowing tier lists or anything. Playing him in online ranked is anything but free wins lmao
Easy wins. Oh yes. Bad lows. Bad mids. Bad movement. Good luck trying to side step just about any thing! One of the smallest move lists in the entire game. Nearly everything is -14. Bears have like 4 good moves. And 2 of them are launch punishable. God forbid your opponent has a i13 WS launcher. Reduces your options even further. Lee vs Bear is probably one of the most stacked match ups in the game because of wall carry + combo and ws23 turns into a launcher. Match up knowledge or lack off only takes you so far when your stances have no mix and every time you press a button you're -14. Free wins sure if you're in red ranks and below.
So much hate... I'm a decent player and I main Kuma. I don't do it to troll, I genuinely enjoy the beefy "brawler" fighters. Also, I always steer away from the meta fighters.

Not really since u cant compare panda to characters like jin, kazuya, paul, bryan that you probably play at least twice a day. When was the last time you fought panda literally rarely happens and its pointless to learn the matchup for that reason

@@PinkManGuy _Tekken God Prime with Chloe and Emperor with Kuma. Sidestepping works on certain moves but he's still very problematic at high ranks in my opinion._

Not gonna lie. I used to be a huge fan of TMM. But he says a bunch of sh*t. Saying the character is stupid, and how cheap Bears are because no one knows the match up is a bit much scrupman
He is playing a bloody Lee vs a bear. Absolute manchild mentality to get salty and complain/downplay every loss when the poor Kuma takes so much more wall combo damage it's almost a constant uphill battle for the Bear player.

I can see him going to a tournament and lose to a more rare character, like Bear in the pools and be like: "I have been playing this game for 20+ years, I stream this game for a living and I still haven't bothered to give a single thought on studying this matchup, but he is such a cheap character and not honest, only losers play him, so I better return to my Mishima Elitism echochamber to cope and not learn anything from this." Imagine if Rangchu would do something like that? He would have never gotten that huge win, let alone become such a fantastic player.

That is why I have told to my friends which some are new to Tekken not to look TMM stream and sets, because he will teach you the absolute worst mentality you can have.

Aaaahh, classic TMM.. He has been this salty for at least 15+ years. Used to cross paths with him playing t5dr online. Even back then, he didnt know the match up. (got kicked numerous times when i beat him with my Ling, which was average at best) You would think that he would have learned the Ling, Ganryu, Kuma/Panda, Yoshi.. match ups by now, but practicing your pewgf in a private lobby with your mishima elitist fanboys is much more satisfying than labbing characters i guess.. 🥳
Complaining about bears is just next level of being a scrupman.
Bears not only have simple moves, they also have big hitboxes, and you combos are a lot more forgiving bc of the big hitboxes + higher dmg combos are available.
This isn't even at the same level as playing Blight in DBD, not even fucking close.

Bears are literal lab characters with a ton of moves that have super specific ways to be countered. Also their hit boxes are not a disadvantage because many moves just don't land on them because of the way they stand up, also they have stubby legs, so a ton of combos become way harder vs them, so you have to pretty much not only lab their attacks, but sometimes rethink many of your combo routes because they don't work against them.
It is different than playing blight in dbd, because blight is always strong, regardless of matchup knowledge. But it is getting free wins because nobody knows the matchup, and the characters are not popular so even if they learn it they'll forget the next time they see them.
Tekken has cheesy annoying troll characters that carry people far because learning their matchup is incredibly hard, amongst other news, the sky is blue.

@@estoylaroca Not all the cast has moves that have non intuitive moves that have to be labbed in order to be punished. And no, there's no other character in the game for which you have to alter your combos as much as you have to for bears(female hurtboxes are all the same, and if a combo lands on a female hurtbox then it lands on every male hurtbox as well, huge hurtboxes like jack or gigas don't require combo alterations of any type, much unlike bears). So the amount of knowledge required to fight bears is WAY more than what you need to face Kazuya for example.

I think its pretty crappy to say the only reason someone would pick a character you don't like is because they want free wins. Kuma and Panda have been long standing characters and have people who like them and their playstyles. Just because they aren't as popular as most legacy characters doesn't mean that people who play them deserve the disrespect!

That’s kinda shitty argument. Your matchup knowledge as good as frequency of encounters with certain characters. Like you fight Zafina, Julia, Feng, Akuma or any other tier whore character and struggling with matchup then yeah it’s a skill issue. But you can’t always know the match up on bears because encountering them online is as rare as seeing one in local forest. You can lab it preemptively yes but it’s useless because you’ll meet one bear in 3 months if you’re lucky and by the time you meet you’ll forget everything.

If it's some new fighter and no one knows any matchups then by that logic you're getting "cheesed" every loss by not knowing matchups lol. Obviously that's not the case. It's a simple skill issue. Nothing is stopping you from finding a janky Kuma main on discord and doing rounds with them for funsies. The game is old enough by now that it shouldn't be that ridiculous to consider a random Kuma in ranked now and then

He plays tekken daily since ages yet he was unable to learn kunis matchup til now which you see everyday and he plays for several hours which shows that he never really looked into it once.

You get hit by so many random mids when you are grounded with kuma and if you get up the ranks you meet some Hwoarang, Geese and Akuma that'll put so much pressure and bear specific combos on you its like whatever.. bryan's db2 picks you up if you move and fighting Zafinas is next to impossible with the crazy movement or Law who gets like 20 hits on wallsplat, not to mention fights vs steppers like Alisa lili etc while not having a sidestep. Facing zoners like Noctis, Kuni etc plus its harder to step fireballs, or fight elusive characters with fast strings like Steve, also fighting Feng, Leo and Drag is horrible... Like stop it dawg

Lee is the ultimate cheese character tho. Ridiculous bait, his keep out makes it so you can only play on HIS terms, everything he does is evasive and hits you on counter. One of the cheapest match ups in the game. Can't stand this POS character. So safe on block it's insane. Scrub character.
As far as free wins with characters you don't enjoy: Kuntnimitsu, Kuntarina, Lucky Cunty, Kuma, Claudio, Julia and all new Tekken 7 characters, most female characters and all DLC characters. Nobody likes them, they just do it for free wins. Tho now with the patches, yeah, Leroy and Fak did grow on some people. But as far as legacy characters, yeah, there has never been a person that says, "yeah, Panda is my main." It's just a troll character along with most of the ones I mentioned.

Lee isn't cheesy, because despite having evasion he has a ton of weaknesses when it comes to offense and his legitimate tools are always strong, instead of knowledge checks. He also requires a ton of execution.
