The bassoon parts are similar in style to the way I write (for penny whistle) : sets of three or four melodies with variations and improvisational.
I play every day in the Hyde Park Corner subways under Park Lane, London. It's my living.
As well as my own compositions I play sets of traditional folk tunes in the same way.

As good and delightful as anything Haydn, Mozart, or Beethoven composed. This is why Classical Music is dying. Same old war horses.
We need "an infusion of "new blood" and Devienne is just the tonic!
