I have the new 550xp mark II and I like it but my jonsered 2253 is right there with it and looks better!!! Never did like the silver side of the 550xp and if you watch sellers hide that side in most ads!!!
Ive got both and they really are so close joe blow should just buy the 545!!! Speaking of ehlls western auto wentzville,mo has 545 18in $479 $20 shipping 550 is $519

550xp has a high flow head, and more robust internals for the requirements of ( XP ) series. The 545 is very close, but... I don't want to say cheaper, but its cheaper. lol
I had them both for around 6 months now, they were way closer in performance the 1st few tanks of fuel for some reason, the 550 definitely revs higher & has more top end but just a little bit more bottom end grunt, they are identical in the middle 60% of the rpm range though,, they are still close enough that I would have a tough time deciding whether or not to spend the extra $ if I were to buy another

Stihl is a good saw for sure. Husqvarna saws though are just faster bar none. I like both but if Givin the choice I'd pick the 550 xp mark 2 without the auto tune.

You just saved me $50 and also K.I.S.S. not dealing with the long term problems of that electronic auto tune feature when it get old.
The 550 has slightly different firmware, but both saws have autotune electronically controlled carbs.
545 is auto tune as well

545= 2.7kW and 550= 3.0kW 🤔🤔, but 50cc motor.
