  • TDL- Finger Blood Oximeter Teardown
    Like to know the amount of oxygen in your blood? How about your pulse? Then you could benefit from one of these neat little gadgets!
    This one is quite neat in that it has the self rotating screen, not a deal breaker by any means, but definitely a nice to have.
    They look they can be hacked in the future, getting the data from serial would be really neat!

    As you go from internship to internship as a geeky nurse student you can't help but notice that the most widely used models here in Belgium are the ones that always show a HW/SW version. So I ended up buying my own based on that, with BT --- standardized parts make me happy, now I want to buy a cheapo one to probe like it's no-one's business.

    Can you tell me the model # on the oximeter? The Amazon links no longer work. I'm very interested in those serial lines in there. I'm part of a team designing an open source emergency ventilator. We are looking for an oximeter we can extract the data from. Thank you.

      I am studying it as I type. Unfortunately there is no model number on the unit, but it seems a pretty standard item. Can you send me a link to your team, or ping me in Discord. I will run a stream today to reverse engineer the oximeter, we can study the signals on those lines to see if they are usable, and study the measurement end to make a 3D printable + nodeMCU equivalent.

    How to chnage or repair display of pulse oximeter. My machine is working but its display is not

  • @Soooperspeed

    The perfusion index (PI) thats what that means .. its like a ratio of blood flow gets technical and it can tell you how good the pulse is being read from 0.01 being very low too 20.00 being extremely high .. it varys over makes and models but that is the jist of that . (robustitude ha ha ha) oh ye FIRST .. lol

    In the case that the oximeter's display lost its brightness, is it possible to still fix that?
    Right now, my oximeter is still working. However, I can only see the readings on the display by covering the screen a bit like how you would look at a glow in a dark watch.

    • @backofficeshow
      @backofficeshow  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have heard of cheap displays fading over time owing to degradation of their composition. If this is the case, there is little you could do other than replace it

      @@backofficeshow Alright, thank you! 👍 I thought there was just some component that needs to be replaced aside from the LCD that is responsible for the brightness.

      I literally just asked my Dr 20 minutes ago, she asked the lowest and the highest and a couple questions about exercise and said not to worry about it 😂

    • @thetiredtechie2704
      @thetiredtechie2704 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      And probably if you are doing at least some exercise she said it's normal because people that are in sport have lower HR? They've told me that too. Until they've realized that I have total AV block and had to implant a pacemaker :/

    • @backofficeshow
      @backofficeshow  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oops! A couple of years ago I had a full screening check and stress test (for fun!) no issues then. They also noted the lower pulse then as well. So it's probably ok. She didn't even query the upper pulse in the 190s during training either. I guess they get more worried if it does not drop down quickly
