Loads of classic cars on show at Smallwood Vintage Rally 2021 (BMC, BL, Rootes, Ford, Jaguar etc)

- A great many classic cars and pre-war vehicles turned up for the Smallwood Vintage Rally, in this video we walk around the car exhibits. A few of the old cars we'd seen before at other classic car shows, but quite a few were new to us. Cars on show included examples of Ford Granada Mk1 saloon and coupe, Lanchester LD10, Singer Gazelle, Ford 100E and various Mk1 Escorts. Pre-war and vintage cars on show included a couple of fabulous Ford Model Ts, a Model Y saloon, a bullnose Morris from the 1920s, and - on sale in the autojumble area - a wonderful old Packard. Rootes Group, Jaguar, BMC & BL were also represented.
This rally also attracts a large number of commercial vehicles and tractors, which will feature in separate videos on this channel shortly (it would have been too long a video to cram everything into this upload). Classic caravans and camper vans also get a mention.

Interesting to see the 'in your face' orange Chevette hatchback at 01.25. The only other one I have known was my Dad's, passed on to my wife and written off in Broadway by an American lady in a hire car forgetting which side of the road to drive on. Despite the vile colour, a reliable car, and its replacement, a white 4-door Chevette saloon, took the family down through France on holiday without missing a beat. It too was eventually written off by another lady driver!
The Ford Capri V8 MAY be a South African built Ford Capri Perana. As an Australian there are lot of British cars at this show I instantly recognise and other a new to me. Great video!

My mum had Ford Fiesta popular plus in exactly the same colour with the same stipe!
It's worth noting (perhaps) that the Plymouth Satellite wagon you described as "gigantic" was, at the time, a "mid-size" car in the Plymouth lineup. The year the Satellite was introduced (1965), the "full-size" Fury would have been gigantic-er! The one you show looks to be about a 1970. BTW, the MG Midget at 06:17 is obviously FAB...and says so!

1:52 WHY ? would someone open the bonnet on their car to show off the knackered insulation on the bonnet lid and the bodged wiring ??
I never open my bonnet at shows for the same reasons :-)
Another fine show. I agree with your point about the styling of American cars. The mid to late sixties is one of the best periods for them.
Love seeing the 88" wheelbase Landrover and Forward Control Light truck, those three Chevettes made me smile, brings back to my youth.

Being a pedant I need to point out that "Vanden Plas" should be pronounced "Vanden Pla"
Last I read was that it should he a hard "S" rather than soft, hence me saying Plass, seems to vary depending on who I talk to
@@oldclassiccarUK to be strictly accurate the name as I originates from the Netherlands should be pronounced "Plas" however the company originated in Belgium and there it is pronounced "Pla" my father worked at Vanden Plas for over 25 years and I can tell you categorically it is pronounced "Pla"
That was a good day out, I'm here in New Zealand and some of those cars we didn't have out here so I enjoyed seeing some I hadn't seen, I was over in your country from 1965 till 1970 and three cars I had in that time I didn't see 1956/Morris Oxford Mk I Zephyr 1956/Vauxhall Velox
