In this Episode, STRIAGHTalk looks into the struggle for self determination in Africa taking a cue from the Nigeria's Niger-Delta Activist, Asari Dokubo. TVC NEWS STRAIGHTalk with Asari Dokubo, a Niger-Delta Activist provides answers to boiling questions on the rise of Insurgent groups in Africa.

This is the type of men I like listening to...we should try to think about the issues in Nigeria as being a slow process! Everything happening now didn't just happened...their beginning can be traced from far away. Nigeria should have tried to solve her issues from the root. A country of Unified diversity...We should learn to process minerals and oils in areas found. Commonwealth is about using a country's resources to help states that don't have natural resources. If oil is found in Rivers state, It should be processed in Rivers state, owned by the Rivers state government, and the proceed, can be used to develop other parts of Nigeria. I am speaking as an Akwaibomite and international relations student. About the language issues, we should stop this three language thing. God knew all these will happen, that is why he put all the major natural resources in minority-considered states!

My dear, my town in Imo state is full of hydro carbon and there is an oil well in my town.
Today, November, 2021, the town does not have EVEN A SINGLE MOTORABLE ROAD !!!
In fact, one of the old roads, built by IWUANYANWU, during Mbakwe time, got so bad, that it turned into a big gully, divided a village, into two. No one cares!!!!! From Okorocha, who deputy was from this town to Iwuanyanwu, from a neighboring town who now tarred a road from his house to Owerri. These are people parading as Igbo leaders!!!
Give the resources to the owners and take taxes from them!!!!
Every, single part of Nigeria is blessed with natural and human resources. Let's get to work and find out what we are endowed with!!!
Stop robbing Peter to pay Paul.

BUT, will the greed and corruption that permeates the leadership of Nigeria- such a conference may not come to pass. Chief Asari makes sense to me but seems to be dangerously angry!

After watching this interview my take is Dokubo Asari has valid points in terms of the resources siphoned by the northerners . Abuja was built from the wealth of the South-South. But there is a blatant neglect of the South-South by the North. Solution: Multifaceted in nature. Build extensively and expansively the South- South the way Abuja was constructed with a master plan comprehensive in nature. All the social infrastructural backbones must be built including but not limited to Good Road Networks, Great Schools, Excellent Hospitals, Awesome Railway/ Waterway systems, Beautiful Shopping Malls, Dynamic Recreational Facilities, Great Urban and Rural Amenities, Manufacturing hubs, Industrial complex’s and others. For far too long the Cabal of born to rule Northerns have undermined the development of Nigeria.

I like the spirit of Asari, I'm an Igbo and a Biafran and do not call myself a Nigerian. The unfortunate thing is that Ojukwu thought about all these a while ago but they didn't listen. Well now that he has declared that half of his lineage is Igbo in a recent interview at Owerri, I think he should join Nnamdi Kanu in the struggle because they are fighting for the same ideal and cause. Ijaw is way too small to survive on it's own and be relevant.

Today we need great selfless action. We do not even need violence to take power, power is taken first by the thoughts, if we start to think with one vision which gives attention to the masses improvement it means we stop paying attention to the government. The only reason Nigeria is this way is that we think lazily or not at all. To change Nigeria overnight to greatness will just take proper creative thinking, hungry men do not think well about consequences of actions and hence we have problems

He is right and entitled to his own supreme opinion. Ijaw is a tribe from the edoid language of the Benin Empire with several kingdom. Remember during Benin Empire ijaw were never slaves but children of a proper Benin empire man called ozigwe who was a canoe builder and royal. All the areas they currently live were founded areas and aboriginal lands. Ijaws are royals children from ozigwe of igodomigodo the canoe builder of igodomigodo this is facts from regression science looking at the past. They were in charge of defense in the delta area of igodomigodo during the 12 century AD and were loved by Oba ewedo who actually brought them to the current areas where they live as aborigines. They are Benin people and have the same ancestry. According to the regression science all tribes in west migrated from Benin at different times in the history as seen from regression science from Benin Empire or igodomigido.

This issue is a very sensitive matter, Asari seems to be a strong activist, be it formal militant or not, i think the problem we have in Nigeria is foreign policy which has been beneficial and detrimental to our development. Every thing has its ups and down. Asari is right to some degree but should understand we left the north to eat deep into Nigeria and it would be hard to get them off the greedy roller-coaster. I think Nigeria should be divided or adopt an American system of government where all states are independent to there resources. Its a tough one because our leader are not innovative thinkers, if its good for them and their families to hell with people that voted them in. If you can't beat them don't join them a better tomorrow is built on the struggle for greatness today. God bless Nigeria.

Hahaha, totally BS, the embezzlement during IBB and Abacha regime crumbled Nigeria, well good lucky with the oil challenges as price falls 13 years low, the would be forced to think ways to sustain the economy or Nigeria would become a poverty striking nation. For the records go and get your history of corruption right. You talk about 80th's, how do compare corruption from 80th's to corruption from ill-fated leaders of the north with no proper education, intelligence or no how to lead a nation to the right direction.

I have a question for you;If the Oil in Ogoni Land was blessed on the arid city of Kaduna, would these mallams have allowed the resources from the Oil to be shared by ALL?We need a Constitutional National Conference, where we all will agree on what to do?Asari has the right to take the oil from his back yard.

Asari, tell them the raw truth. Yoruba journalists can be so daft. They've been fed with gutter media house monumental lies!!!

Our problem as Nigerians is that we are wont to interprete any opinion put forward by a fellow citizen along ethnic lines thereby missing the basic facts and merits in his argument. Asari's submissions are not totally without some loopholes. However, I do not feel obliged to be a Nigerian considering the many benefits I am denied as a citizen for which reason I would gladly like to opt out of this geographic contraption. What is the sense in giving oil wells in the south to northerners? Tell me.
