This is so sad but i think j might actually be more sad than people think (mostly from trauma and just acts mean so nobody knows what trauma j and them been through)
I know :( I wonder why she always acts so mean? Did something happen at the Elliot Mansion which turned her mean? Poor J is always left in the dark. J deserves to be happy :( Personally, I think some drones did something stupid at the Elliot Mansion before the solver infested Cyn was saved by Tessa, which got them ‘tied to the tree’ (liek what happened to N in episode five). That was traumatic for her as she was the boss and let them down. So, she swore if she were harsher, then they’d listen and not do stupid things.
It's nice to get a little more dynamic between N and J where they don't just bitching at each other. It always bothered me that a character like J, instead of showing her as a workaholic and a true leader who bears a huge burden of responsibility for everything that happens, Liam decided to make her a bully who constantly humiliates N for no particular reason. I don't even want to talk about any character development (like what we got with N and V), because, in her case: 1) She almost has no screen time. 2) Doesn’t have any kind of backstory (except for what we saw in the fifth episode, where she still hates everyone, with the exception of Tessa). 3) And even in her short screen time, she barely interacts with the other members of the squad (she talked to them maybe like 3 times?) throughout the entire series. I understand that, for the most part, this was all done for comedy purposes (which is absolutely fine), but I really want this show to be a little bit more serious regarding such characters like J:(
I totally agree. J is definitely wasted potential. I think it would’ve been a better idea to actually KEEP her in episodes 2-7 instead of killing her clone off in the pilot to then bring in her actual self with Tessa. It would’ve developed her character to actually BRING OUT the workaholic in her and the burden she faces as the HEAD Disassembly Drone. J having this “sweet” side where she actually cares about the other Disassembly Drones not wanting to loose another Drone fighting the solver. This is why in this ‘animatic comic thing’ I’ve created. She CARES about the drones and WANTS N to move on. She knows that the drones are valuable to her and her fight against the solver. Their fight. V being similar. Keeping all of the drones in check and wanting N to move on too. N being an unstable link who could be ((and will be) omg spoiler!!) exploited because his affection towards Uzi by the solver. Tormenting him with a ghost that no other drone can see, hear or acknowledge. N being unable to move on from Uzis sacrifice slowing ruining him. In my ‘comic animatic thing’ J only wants the best for the drones that she has known ALL of her life. For them to move in together, Celebrate Tessa’s life and, move forward. (That’s a lot of text from me. I definitely agree with all of your points about canon J. I love looking at how different people interpret the characters in their own way.)
