Welding a Custom Aluminum Fountain | Koi Pond Pt 1

  • The project was to design and fabricate a contemporary centerpiece for a koi pond.
    The piece consists of complex digital joinery that could only be achieved through digital design and fabrication. In this case, waterjet.
    In this video, I will use a Miller Multimatic 211 and a spool gun to weld together the waterjet cut 3/8” aluminum plate. This is a new process to me and is an incredibly satisfying way to weld aluminum!

      So am I. I KNOW I've seen a video of this being built before but can't find anything else in the @Brian Oltrogge 's past videos. And I don't think last time it was a 2 part thing.

    I absolutely love the fact that what looks like a clickbait thumbnail is actually a real part of the video :)

    • @Grunblau
      @Grunblau  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I was concerned that people would be repulsed by the thumbnail. I know I am on the look out for click bait. I thought it had kind of a pond like quality… always a tough choice.

      I am glad you found it! I figured that part 1 might get lost if it wasn’t reupped. I had also posted that one before they changed some of the content settings effectively hiding it from some people.

    It looks like a radio telescope antenna. I love it

    • @Grunblau
      @Grunblau  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was hoping it would generate its own power through some sort of plasma-radio wave resonance, but sadly the secondary function as a fountain will have to do… for now.

    Did you weld any of the cross members to each other? Or just to the rim and center of the structure?

    • @Grunblau
      @Grunblau  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question! Rim and the triangular piece in the center were welded. The ribs that touch the center plate were strategically the ones that held up most of the weight. Everything else is allowed to ‘float’

    Out of pure curiosity, do you do your own voice over or is this an artificial voice?

    • @Grunblau
