    thank you kind sir .. i didn't stop by for 'the art' .. stopped by to watch you handle an airbrush ( again ) .. trying to key in on techniques , for instance .. the way you blow paint onto a side panel before hitting the canvas .. or your maneuvers over it .. the reasoning feeds me .. small instances that can improve mine ... keep it up .. ( cause 'we' ain't done ! ...

    Great tutorial man. Just started in airbrush art. Only picked up a stick brush in May of 2019 when my wife developed cancer and all I could do is watch her suffer through chemo. Watched all 31 seasons of the "Man" himself. Picked up a brush and viola...after 35 or so oils, 25 or more acrylics, I wanted to try my hand @ airbrush art. Finished a couple so far...eh not great yet, but I will keep trying. Thanx again Bill.

I set out to help folks, and while I hope I get better at making videos as time goes on. I still plan on MOST of my videos giving a reasonable amount of info. If you go back to my older ones.. i gave out tons of information, but it seems most will not sit through an hour long video :)

    What type of canvas did you spray onto? and where is it available? Or is there a more forgiving option for students who are new to airbrushing? Thanks for your help your videos are awesome!

    • @TheAIRspace
      @TheAIRspace  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      this i believe was just black paint on a piece of hardboard panel. I like cheap posterboard for tutorials occasionally.. things I wont plan to keep but want to look pretty good anyway. But the black posterboard sucks the life out of the paint a bit .. I mention that on the bubble tutorial on black posterboard i have. But white posterboard can be shiney or matte.
      For general practice a large roll of kids "art" paper served me very well.
      But one of the things about airbrushing, it can cover such a huge variety of surfaces from canvas to cars to walls to clothing.

    • @TheAIRspace

    This looks fantastic. I am planning to do something similar on the surface of a custom space theme pinball machine that I am working on. I realize I will need to practice some more but am in the process of picking my colors. I think you are mostly using transparent colors but do you also use opaque colors for the white and cobalt blue. Please let me know which colors were opaque. Thanks

    • @TheAIRspace
      @TheAIRspace  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      tough to say which were opaques in this.. some blue and some red for certain. i could do it either way. And id have to watch the video again to remind myself. I switch up techniques a lot. Thats intentional in videos also.. this give people the opportunity to try multiple styles and techniques and use what they like best. "
      In my case I use a mixture of opaques a lot with transparent tinting. BUT the fastest way for me is using all transparents.. ith that said transparents are a touch harder to control.
      Thank you and GO FOR IT!

    Excellent outer space scene, how do you go about varnishing the completed piece? Applying with an airbrush, mini-spray gun, brush, spray can varnish?

    • @TheAIRspace
      @TheAIRspace  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      all of the above.. well actually I never use a brush on airbrushed paintings.
      I do a ton of canvas and sometimes use spray can actual varnish. panels.. well depends on my plans for them. some get real 2k clear. some may get a spray can clear if its just cheap and quick indoor art. and some get acrylic clearcoats

    • @vanquishstorm3806
      @vanquishstorm3806 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheAIRspace Thank you for the reply. I recently varnished an airbrushed water based illustration board with a 0.5mm airbrush and the finish was pebbly and needed wetsanding with fine grit sandpaper. Prior to varnishing, I applied Createx Transparent Base as an intercoat layer and let it sit for a couple of days beforehand. I used Golden UVLS acrylic polymer varnish diluted with water sprayed at about 20-25psi. I'm looking for an alternative to varnishing airbrushed acrylic waterbased canvases without using an airbrush due to the pebbly textured result I got nor use a foam brush since that reactivated and smeared some colors on a test sample canvas. I may consider trying a varnish spray in a can.

    • @TheAIRspace
      @TheAIRspace  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vanquishstorm3806 yeah if you cant get the clear to "wet" out its gonna be hard to get a gloss. a regular airbrush is just too small to clear an entire panel. I use a creos ps290 with waterbased clears on some things.. I have a review on it as well. Its sort of a high powered airbrush with a fan cap.

    • @vanquishstorm3806
      @vanquishstorm3806 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheAIRspace I figured with more practice I may be able to reduce/eliminate the pebbly surface texture by spraying closer to the surface and applying the varnish on more heavier with a 50/50 overlap just till it dosent run but it's still a chore since the spray pattern is narrow and having to cover a large surface. It took quite a bit of coats of wet sanding to make the finish look somewhat acceptable. I was looking into the Grex Tritium which has a fan cap but its pricey, I'll look into your review of the Creos. Thanks again.
