The Inept General You've said that you dislike the End Times. Are there certain storylines that you do like? I think that the Dwarves, Skaven, & Lizardmen have some very good ones, and Bretonnia as well. There are also certain characters that really stand out during the End Times. Settra, Abhorash, Gilles le Breton, & Vlad Von Carstein are my favorite characters during the period. Mazdamundi, Kroq-Gar and Gor-Rok also do some cool stuff
The Inept General The imagery as well with Gilles, Abhorash, Bohemond Beastslayer, and Jerrod of Quenelles standing shoulder to shoulder during the end of the world fighting against hordes of Skaven is awesome in my mind. The same with Settra killing Kholek Suneater after four days of continual fighting.
The Inept General for this I have great hope for modders: For the zombies and skeletal fleet captain, a slight reskin that maybe adds the hats from the free company models, for the gunpowder zombies, the reskin zombies with the free company and hand gunner animations with adjusted stats. Fell bats, banshees and whatever rat units are added could easily be added from other rosters, scurvy dogs could just be dire wolves. Maybe for the hulks modders could use retextured trolls, or eventually ogres, for example pale skin and white eyes. Carronade is a resized cannon maned by reskinned zombies. The major issue is an undead monster. Hopefully we will get a monster that is adaptable, like a Charybdis with slight retexturing. That or we could use the undead giant mod in a pinch. For Harkon I was thinking using the normal vampire model with a red version of the celestial wizard robe or witch hunters clothes. If they can do mousillon so well I think the vampire coast could be done really well by modders if CA can't be arsed.
Good god I want Luthor so bad, just the idea of maybe a few fun styled vampire skirmishing units. Imagine pirate skeletons armed with pistols and cutlasses? Or even zombified cannon crews? I know that realistically those units are probably not capable of utilizing those weapons... BUT CMON! "Yaaaaarrrrr..." moans the zombie with a tricorner hat.
Its actually totally right to have aquatic Zombies for Harkon. As far as I remember the Vampire army book from 1997, undead always tend to be good at the things they did in life. So the von Carsteins mostly resurrect Soldiers of the Empire, wich does make their Armies quite disciplined fighters. Because Harkons Undead were mostly Pirates, they do in unlife what they did in Life: beeing pirates, wich means they can fight, they can run ships, they can use black powder weapons and they can swim. (The Fun fact on this is, if the warhammer World were a world of peace with no warriors in it, the Vampires would rise undead farmers, tailors or singers, but no undead soldiers. They still could command them to battle, but their bound souls simply wouldnt be good at it as there is no resemblence to war inside them.)
@@Darkestdarkify Yes, however I believe there's another lore tidbit where this maelstrom where noctilus likes to hang out gives their undead some extra spark or something. This is just something I read offhand in some italic flavor text in-game so... to be honest I'm not 100% there's an explanation for that or not. But here's a relevant reddit post "Excluding Kemmler the actual Vampire Counts arent strictly Necromancers, thats a leftover that comes from the power of Nagash. The Vampire Coast Vampires have a little more going on, the Slann magic boost another poster already pointed out, so what they raise is imbued with more than just the wind of death... ...Frankly though, there's no great lore argument, it was a game design choice first and foremost, throwing mechanics in and fudging the fluff later is a hallmark of GW in particular, CA just sort of went with the same haphazard design ideals, usually it takes a bit of ignoring the inconsistencies."
Yeeeaaah my favourite alternative army list! It was so much fun to model with the old zombie kit (which went quite well with the Empire Free Company bits). Though only played with them twice, since they sucked so much.
Another great video, keep it up man! Love the idea of zombie pirates, imagining an awesome custom map of a spooky, swampy coast dotted with ruined ships
actually the greek sirens were more like harpie style creatures, pretty much just seagulls with a females head and boobs. The mermaid is built on the niyad or ocianid creatures that did essentially what the sirens did but to pork strapping young chaps, the fact that most of the sailors drowned was an acceptable accident.
Definitely love that you went through the army list for us! Thanks for that, it's a very entertaining roster! :) I agree with you about the rotting leviathan, I also think the promethean would be the best and most entertaining fit for the model. Close enough to a kraken to fit the Pirates of the Caribbean theme as well! Like you, I am doubtful that we will see this army officially make it into the total war games for some time (if at all), but I am confident that modders will be all over it! ;) At least some of the units should be very simple to create by mixing and matching parts from existing units, but a few might be too difficult for that. Thanks again for the video! I do hope we will one day be able to play as Luther Harkon, either via DLC or mods! :)

I will go ahead and believe that CA watched this video and decided this would be the roster. I fully expect this to be the roster for the Vampire Coast. Its going to be really hard to call Vampire Counts, VC now. There are 2 playable factions called VC XD.
I'd love to see a Luthor Harkon mini campaign dlc. He'd have 2 to 3 and they could maybe even be 1 large one with a grouped story. It would be something with Lizardmen, then Dark Elves to take a Black Arc, then back to Lizardmen to somehow open the door?
I love that the Fleet Captain conversion from White Dwarf has an albatross tied around his neck. For those who don't know that's based on The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, an English poem about a sailor who shoots an albatross which he interprets as an ill omen. As punishment, he is forced to wear the albatross around his neck until he consolidates with nature.
Since there is not much of factions to DLC, I think this would be an awesome DLC, especially if they would make a Naval DLC at some time. I don't think it would do justice to just make him a vampire counts legendary lord, seeing how different his army is than the standard vampire counts army. With his magic resistance and cannons, firearms and lack of magic, it is almost an undead dwarfs combo, which I think would be incredibly interesting. Maybe even with his expertise in raising zombies, he could have the -40% upkeep cost like Skarsnik and in a similar manner Skarsnik unique units, so maybe not a completely different faction but different enough than the Vampire Counts that it feels as a totally different faction. Although I think a completely different faction would be cool, especially considering the lack of races to make DLC's out of (Basically only Tomb Kings and Arabia, since Kislev is Old World). I would definitely buy the Luthor Harkon DLC, if executed well.
Sirens were first mentioned by Homer (to my knowledge) in the Odyssey, they were half bird-woman who perched on rocks to lure sailors to their doom. Later Romans writers like Virgil mention them as well. In some versions they were daughters of a river god and a muse, which explains their ties to both land and sea. I believe it was during the age of Imperialism, with more shipping and trade, mixed with classical text being taught in primary school, that the myth evolved with tales of women in the water (mermaids), and other perceived dangers. Partly, because travel by sea was still perilous, many sailors lost their lives, and so blame tended to be cast on supernatural forces, such as explaining why a man would willingly jump overboard. This version fits nicely, to me, with the DLC having images and themes derived from tales about the golden age of piracy in the Gulf of Mexico. :) If you have any other questions, feel free to ask! (I'm a historian/classicist)
There is so much that CA could do with all these little minor factions! I cannot wait for Middenland, Kislev, The Vampire Coast, Mousilion, and other smaller factions.
Don't see this implemented in game 2 :( But it looks so freaking nice, if they give us all the units you have showed and an intresting campaign mechanic I will give them 10 euros

Wait a sec, what do you mean by "used to make White Dwarf "? Its still around matey! Latest issue of this post had rules for Genesteler Cult gang in the Necromunda.
Is there any particular reason you think that the old races will be included in the TWW2 campaign map at all? It seems odd that CA would do that at all, frankly. I mean, that would mean that: 1) The races of TWW1 would be playable in TWW2 without purchase of the first game (a terrible sales strategy). 2) The Vortex Campaign would need goals for every one of the old factions as well as the new ones, which would make little sense. 3) The Old World would quickly be irrelevant, as all factions would actually just tie in too well. Yet you keep saying in various videos all this stuff about "tying in the old factions", and now with this one, a whole new distant starting location, potentially. Why do you believe they would do this in the first place?
Hey Joshua to address your points 1) Even if you own TW:W1 you still won't be able to play 1st game races in TW:W2 campaign map only in combined campaign map released later so DLC that allows you to do this is a pretty solid sales strategy. Especially for those who don't own the first game. 2) The goals are unlikely to be very complex probably just like chapter objectives in the first game the achievement of which would add to a "control of the vortex" progress bar. This would not be much of a challenge for them to bring in. 3) Not sure I understand this one To summarize my thinking. 1) CA have all the assets from the first game sitting around if they can use those to sweeten a DLC especially for people who don't own the first game. They'd be fools not to. 2) If you get people who only own the 2nd game to try the old races they may love them driving sales for the first game so they can use those races on the combined world map. In all it's just making good use of assets they have already made maximising their value for minimal additional effort and driving further sales. I think they'll do it cause it makes business sense and the fans want to see some of those match ups.
The Inept General I think by the third one he means that if all old game factions are playable and exist in the new world then old world would become irrelevant. Not that I agree with him.
the idea of Harkon trying to take on a lizardmen army lead by a Slaan with just a hoard of zombies, no matter how large, is quite laughable. even the second attempt, wights or no, is a bit hard to take seriously.
The Inept General ah! I forgot he had cannons. that does make quite a difference. I don't think you mentioned it in the video though. it's very unusual for zombies to be able to operate ranged weaponry, it would have born mention.
The Inept General damnit, I somehow managed to miss one of the best parts of the video! very facinating, I had heard of zombie pirate army's before but had always assumed it was just a modeling thing. He has almost a full roster. I don't see how this was not more popular. I am a little surprised that he has no vampire pirate minions though. But yeah, he could take a lizardmen army out with this. Still be hard, but definitely dooable. He must have the patience of a saint though, because all this must have taken ages to accumulate. If they really wanted to mix it up, there are also suppose to be beastmen in Lustria, if you sort of painted them up as cannable islanders he could get a pirates and tribesmen thing going. or maybe pirate gouls, hmmmm...
Agreed, but I don't think he's that serious a character. Deranged vampire pirate gibbering to himself while looting. I think it may be laughable to a degree on purpose. I've personally always liked the very occasional but of humour. Like grimgor.

this is why I love warhammer; they have vampire pirates!
how much cringe it would be to call them "vampirats?"
vampiRATS!!!! :O

Well turns out you are right because he's the next DLC!!!
So Luthor Harkon essentially has zombie paratroopers with the deck droppers. Please please please let this happen, by mod if by nothing else.
Well Creative will do you one better and made a DLC for the faction
Didn't expect this one to actually get made..

Hey Inept General. Any videos soon?
I hope they make a full faction of these guys.

Really good video bro, keep em up!
he's here 😀
Why is the blood always gone?
Yep he has DLC now
i think its Nehekara not nekekara =)
This is probably going to be a silly fun Free-LC, just like Brettonia. I really hope it will anyways. A lot more interesting than the Amazons

So you were right, Harkon will be here at 8th of november with his Undead Fleet
Abhorash, being boss and making bosses all over the Old World. Like always.
Luthor rules
Bring me blood and rum!
brought the DLC just a few moments after seeing the DLC Trailer.
You forgot his mega ability. TRUELY IMMORTAL (Crashing the Game to Desktop as his faction gets destroyed)
He is Abhorash's cousin as is Walach Harkon, Luthor's older brother
If this faction added in the game, they will cause some problems.
1. Their army don't have a magic user. That mean "undead" trait will become very bad because their units can't be healed from suffering.
2. If they are Vampire subfaction, that mean Vampire can use their units on MP. Then Vampire will have unbreakable missile and artillery unit. That will make Vampire become no weakness and broken.
If CA can fix these issue, I will welcome them very much. They look awesome than original Vampire faction. lol
Maybe they will do a little event in the starting turns granting you a necormancer hero
MecH Omega they could just make them shit
MecH Omega CA might make it so that other VC factions can't use Harkon units
Unless to keep it from getting over-powered, they maintain them as separate rosters. It would make things very interesting at least.
MecH Omega replying to your 1st point indept mentioned that even tho Luthor cant use magic he can still raise dead which means u can. still heal units probably how they'd balance the undead having guns and cannons lol

It Arch Grand Commodore Luther Harkon!
Ugh I hope we get Neferata soon!
It'll be fun to use Captain Drekla.

should have used the soundtrack of " Pirates of the Caribbean" lol
John Blanches one is the best .
and arkhan the black made neferata into a vampire
What did he do with all the looted gold tho
Prophetic
Really fun video
Did they say there were no naval battles?
The middle vampire is a nechrarch, not a depiction of luthor.
I think you can update this now^^
Luthor was from Nehekhara? Didn't know that, interesting. Do you think he met Vlad/Vashanesh?
Hey Gabriel yeah he would have definitely met Vashanesh. Vashanesh would have been a bit late to the Lahmian party as far as Luthor was concerned.
Zombie pirates just wow
Hm zombies and pirates also wander around.
The original Syreens had a womans head on a birds body and were extremely ugly.
Hearing Nehekara pronounced Nekekara was really grating.

Hey Joshua to address your points
1) Even if you own TW:W1 you still won't be able to play 1st game races in TW:W2 campaign map only in combined campaign map released later so DLC that allows you to do this is a pretty solid sales strategy. Especially for those who don't own the first game.
2) The goals are unlikely to be very complex probably just like chapter objectives in the first game the achievement of which would add to a "control of the vortex" progress bar. This would not be much of a challenge for them to bring in.
3) Not sure I understand this one
To summarize my thinking.
Kinda with you Edda but even a Slann will go down with enough cannon shots to the head.
The Inept General ah! I forgot he had cannons. that does make quite a difference. I don't think you mentioned it in the video though. it's very unusual for zombies to be able to operate ranged weaponry, it would have born mention.
Edda there is literally an entire section of the video talking about the Artillery in Luthor Harkons army list
Rotting leviathan will never make it in, costs too many charlemagnes.
Andddd it’s in
Let's face it. Creative Assembly is too lazy to do it!
L. Ravensk Greeting the distant future year of 2018, we're getting him and a full roster.
Already happening. So you were saying?
You sound like Boris Johnson
