I can sort of understand the critique on abyssus. The first time i rode it it was a decidely underwhelming experience. For some reason it wasn't on its best that day. The second day i rode it it was fine. If the park didn't have zadra and hyperion it would have been the best coaster in the park. Not saying its a great coaster but its a solid headliner for a medium to greater seized parks. I just don't think its up there for the really major parks except as the best supporting coaster in the not pure coaster parks.

So happy to see Juvelen near the top here. I sat at the front on my first ride, not really expecting much, and was literally shaking when I got off. The forward-leaning four wheeler-inspired seating arrangement, combined with the fact that the track hugs the ground for the majority of the layout really enhances the perception of speed. Such a surprising experience.

6:43 Thank you for giving this ride credit where it's due. Many enthusiasts give it flack and hate on it without realizing that it was a prototype and literally the reason why we have world class Mack coasters now, everyone has to start somewhere. I love this coaster and I hated how all the thoosies hate on it and only bash it with criticism, so seeing now that a couple US enthusiasts give it more favorable reviews makes me happy.
Before your visit, I really hoped you would enjoy it since in my opinion it's still a solid coaster although not world-class. Thoosies nowadays are way too spoiled with intense gforce and ejector Airtime monsters that they seemingly forget to appreciate slightly milder rides.
PS: I rode it 30 times in a row last friday, at night, trimless and it ran so good. I wish you, Sean and all the other US enthusiasts I guided through the park were there.
PPS: One of the American Enthusiasts who was at the Park with me in December now has it within his Top 25 ranking, it ran this well!
    PPPS: Aight I am done.

When I think of underrated coasters in Europe, El Toro and Dynamite at Freizeitpark Plohn come into my mind very fast. I think that the whole park is pretty underrated in general. Sure it's not big but it really offers great theming, it is very well kept, there no trash to find on the ways or so, the employees and ride ops are soo friendly and kind. It really was one of the most surprising parks for me on my trip through Germany!

They do have a somewhat deserved reputation for roughness but i agree they also made some good coasters, just a shame that 2 of there best ones are in Hansa park not the most visited park in europe and probable the most underrated or i should day unknown major park in Europe. As every one who visited it likes the park. Its a bit like plohn park in that regard except that Hansapark is much better. (Now don't go shouting at me you Plohn fans i did really like your park and i think its the most underrated one in germany.)

    • @timdruyts5025
      @timdruyts5025 ปีที่แล้ว +1

The roughness of Gerstlauer is a problem. But that roughness is very unpredictable. Riding a Gerstlauer track is like Russian roulette. I was in PowerLand in Finland last summer. Junker was the best Gerstlauer I've done and got a spot in my top 10. The track was super smooth. But the new Pitts Special was bizarrely pretty rough for its age. Kärnan and Flucht von Novgorod would be much higher in my ranking if my September 2019 ride was much smoother. That said, their Bobsled Coasters (Van Helsing, Heiße Fahrt) and Family Coasters (Wakala) are fantastic and indeed underappreciated.

Absolutely! As a European enthusiast (UK specifically) gerstlauer is one of my favourite manufacturers (especially since the smiler is my #1 in the uk). They need to bring some of their best infinity coasters to parks in america and they’ll get the respect they deserve

The hate Blue Fire get s especially within the german community isn t reasonable. It s just a thing that developed out of the situation, that it used to be almost everyone s Top1 coaster when it opened, so it soon was labeled as 'overrated', which was right. But that whole thing backfired then and they made "bad/forceless" out of "overrated", additionally it also used to be a trend made up by some coaster TH-camrs, to rant about Europa Park, most likely to look like they had a revolutionary opinion towards Europa Park as it began to constantly win the Golden Ticket Award. So hating Blue Fire and the EP itself just became a stupid trend for many people.

Abyssus is the most underrated coaster and it's still better than Icon I only think that Abyssus could have better 2nd launch and trims on the toppat but anything else on this ride is phenomenal and if you think it's forceless than remember it's a family thrill coaster and if you want pure thrill and adrenaline than go on Zadra or Hyperion but Abyssus is for fun. And Abyssus is going to have it's theming finished in 2023 season

  • @mysticcoasterjoachim473

The most underrated coaster I can think of is probably Dwervelwind at Toverland. It has an awesome soundtrack, great location and really cool elements for a family-thrill coaster. Even after riding RTH which is obviously better, I think Dwervelwind is a lot of fun.
It is kind of controversial but I also really like space mountain. It might not be as amazing as when it opened but I still see this indoor coaster and the steam punk area around it as a masterpiece.
You talked about Abyssus (and I agree, it is forcefull) but I actually enjoyed Formula even more.
Last but not least, I think sky scream at holiday park is really underrated. It might be in the same park as a legend, and the sky rocket 2 model might be cloned everywhere, but it packs a punch !

The only one disadvantage of Blue Fire is that launch is not enough strong to provide a feeling of weightlessness (0g) on the first top-hat (called "wave turn" perhaps, as I know). This is fantastic element, but not if the speed is too slow, because you feel like you were about to fall out of the train in this position. It's also a marketing trick that the acceleration takes 2,5s to 100 km/h, because the real time is about 4s to 100 km/h.

I rode Abyssus after watching some reviews from people calling it a more "family-oriented" coaster and didn't expect very much. I learned from that moment that I should probably not pay much attention to those people that reviewed it... Its got some fantastic snappy transitions, lots of airtime and strong positive G moments. Its easily in 3rd place compared to Hyperion and Zadra but honestly most other top rides in Europe would be 3rd place to those to in my opinion.

I'm going to Energylandia this summer to check out Zadra and Hyperion but I wouldn't be surpised if Abyssus cracks my top 20. On of my personal underrated coasters is Kondaa at Walibi Blegium... It gets a lot of hate for not being what was shown on the original renders. The non-inverting cobra roll is a great element and very very good when warmed up, however that element gets too much hate from RMc fanboys who think it will be like their beloved RMC's (which it isn't but still gives the ride a short break before plunging back down into the action.)

Haven't done mystic yet so can't say anything about that one and yes for the exact reason you gave. Mammut and maybe blue fire i think are deserved altough blue fire is still a very nice coaster in my opnion its not as good as i expected. As of van Helsings factory it might just be your age it had good critiques so i woudn't say it was underrated but perhaps its a bit overshadowed nowadays.
And while i follow youre reasoning on rutchebahn and vildcat they just aren''t to greate a coasters so except for their hystorical value they are not really anything to talk about. You could put python on that list to as it was the first extreme coaster in mainland europe.
