living in the benelux has become so much better the last decade as an enthousiast. depending where in the benelux you live (i live in belgium), you have Plopsaland, the 2 walibi parks, efteling, toverland, bobbejaanland, phantasialand, moviepark, parc asterix, the 2 disney parks, the dusseldorf fair (+ countless other fairs) and also some quality smaller parks like Slagharen, Bellewaerde, Duinrell, ... all withing roughly 3h drive from you. Also when you go a little further you have Europa park, holiday park and tripsdrill 2a3h further which is always good for a little trip. I think we can't complain :)
Ah you don't have to limite youreself to just one country if you have about 3 to 4 weeks you can certainly do the best of France, belgium the Netherlands and germany. if you only have 1 or 2 weeks i would suggest either flying into brussles, Amsterdam or koln. (or if you get really lucky fly on eindhoven). If you base youreself near eindhoven you got efteling, toverland, walibi holland and belgium, phantasialand within a 2 hours drive . You can also reach the lesser parks, moviepark germany, slagharen and bobbyjaanland within 2 hours. Only Plopsaland de panne is about 2.5 hours away (this is ofcourse without traffic). If you don't want to do the smaller parks you can move north to heide and hansa park (hansapark is about 6.5 hours away) or south to holidaypark tripsdrill and europapark (wich is about 6 hours away from eindhoven). They are all schengen country's so no borders once you are in and all use the euro so nice and easy. O and if you do the efteling forget about the coasters and just enjoy the park (well do the coatsters to but don't just go for them). And if you come over make sure to look up when the school holidays are and avoid those periods. I would recommend late april to june wich outside some holidays are realy the low seisone so a lot less time standing inline.
You don't have to travel to JUST Germany imo. The EU's open borders mean you can just drive into countries like the Netherlands and Belgium. Which I totally recommend. There are so many good parks within 3 hours of each other in the Benelux and Western Germany area. You can drive from Efteling to Phantasialand and then to Walibi Belgium in 4 hours. By comparison, going from Hansapark to Europa-Park will take you 7 hours. Don't get too hung up on a single country when visiting Europe!
Yeah, it's hard to look past Germany. If Holiday Park gets an exteme spinner, as is rumored, it will be a slam-dunk. An underrated aspect of Germany is how many super-weird parks they have. Skyline. Geiselwind. Kalkar. Schwaben. Steinwasen. Potts. A cornucopia of just the oddest parks ever, full of quirky and unique coasters and other stuff.
Bro I never thought the UK would rank so highly lmao, I see all these elite coasters in Germany, Belgium, France, Spain, Netherlands, the list goes on lmao, and my brain goes "we don't have one of them, must be worse lol" but I do forget about just the amount of just good coasters we've got. Proud to see my country in the top 2, and I can't wait for Project Exodus :D
Im lucky to have changed my plans, was about to visit England this year, but i decided to do a trip through germany first. And England in about 4 or 5 years. I guess this was a good decision, because i prefer to have rides on new coasters after they are at least 2 years in operation, because visiting in the same year a coaster opens will result in enormous waiting time xD Same reason i will revisit Europa Park in about 3 or 4 years, they also gonna open a new coaster next year and it looks promising.
As a French, I totally agree with you. We don't have that much intense coaster, but with Toutatis, I am sure that France will gonna rise in the rank of the best country's by roller coaster. And with park like Nigloland or Walibi Rhone Alpes expanding really quickly, we may see new great coasters in France.
I realy liked nigloland its a very nice park not been to the Walibi one yet. But you have a lot of really nice small family parcs in the north of france. I did those during the first covid year casue i coudn't go anywhere else and they where really enjoyable well not all of thm some really where kids parc's but even so they where nice..
Yeah but I think the coaster in Disneyland Paris we’re so good they were not the intense ones but the decorations were so cool and the coasters lasted very long
Great video! It's surprising seeing Belium and Netherlands on there that high as small as the countries are. Makes for an easy European trip along with Germany too.
Hope you get a change to do the UK in the future, Thorpe and Alton Towers have a LOT of interesting rides I would loved to see covered over here! Greetings from the Netherlands!
Great list! Just one thing: when it comes to Majaland Kownaty in Poland, it is pronounced similiar as "Mayaland" in English. Letter "J" in polish is pronounced more like a "y" in English, than "J" in Spanish. Thought this could be useful just in case you will want to visit the park some time in the future 😀
Went there this year to be honest its a nice enough small park if you are in the neighbourhood but i woudn't advise it if you aren't just fly to the south of poland and do energylandia and lech coaster. The same for spain just do the 2 parks in madrid and port aventura. That is if you have a limited amount of time. i myself like visiting small parks to so i have just 2 coasters on the main land that i haven't ridden in spain. The one in Barcelona was closed and the really old one (thats one i definetly wanna do some day).
Yay 11 Germany, my homecountry, won ^^ But we don't have an SMC, sadly. I still would love to see Bandit in Movie Park converted into one. Bandit is so bad, I refuse to ride it cause it leaves me with a headache/migraine and pain in my back. To have the first RMC in the country would be a major popularity boost. But the management already said they won't RMC it cause it is still popular with families.
Technical yes but no because originally owned by Tussauds group that Thorpe park (also own Port aventura for awhile but sold open Thorpe park) and Alton towers main hitter. And now 2007 brought by merlin entertainment
Love this id really like to see this video with USA states added in curious where u think states like Florida California Ohio land compared to the European countries
Nice overview, fab video. I deleted a previous comment that I wrote when you were around number 5 saying “its embarrassing that the UK is not on this list” however I felt it completely justifiable to leave the UK of the list - I’m British, I can say our coasters are crap. I wouldn’t get your hopes up otherwise you’ll be disappointed. I always spend a little extra and go abroad - well worth it.
I’m also from the UK. Nemesis is good. Smiler is good. Oblivion has a great drop. Exodus might be great. Swarm and Saw and Wicker Man have good themeing… We do have good coasters here, however they’re all supporting coasters.
How did you get so much time off to go to all these places? I don't think I'll ever be able to take a vacation that long until I retire, and I'd probably need even more time than what you'd have as I'd want to do more than just theme parks.
I guess i can be lucky to be a german, since this country for sure is the best country in Europe and the 3rd best country in the entire world for coaster enthusiast. But you forgot to mention one important thing whats different to most other countries, the public transport in germany is one of the countries biggest strength if you are a coaster enthusiast without a driving license. You can reach literally every park here via train and/or bus. Same can be said for each other european country, but in germany its the best system. But of course you'll find trains and busses in other countries of Europa as well. As i have heard in the USA its quite difficult to get public transport, isnt it?
Damm i never thought i would meet another one. Done it this year and its a park that i should really like. It really is a nice looking park and ok the coaster are bit crap if you campaire them to the stats they have. But still ok. I never went on the thirth day when i had a free ticket i just stayed in the hotel and talked to some Ukrainian refugees wich was more enjoyable. First time i coudn't be bothered to go in a park if i had a free ticket and i went to a lot of shitty ones.
I would argue that the UK is way too high. In terms of elite coasters - which it arguably doesn't have - it's way below Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Poland and Sweden. And Germany of course. These countries all have coasters that are widely regarded as some of the best in the world. The UK has none and it remains to be seen if Exodus changes any of that. Coasters like Icon and Nemesis are good, but not close to the level of rides like The Ride to Happiness, FLY, Zadra, Untamed, Shambhala, Helix, Kondaa, Hyperion, Taron, Schwur, Wildfire, Expedition GeForce and Taiga. I'd also argue that Osiris is an elite coaster. It's regarded by quite a few enthusiasts as the best invert in the world, even better than Montu. Just my opinion. The video is excellent, keep up the good work!
Thanks for the support! Spots 6-2 we’re already so close together. They are all interchangeable. Therefore, I had to look at which one’s lineup was even the slightest bit more notable. The UK has an outstanding supporting lineup, and I do count Exodus as an elite coaster for the sake of this list.
Have you ever done Katun? I guess not Osiris is nice enough and well themed but i even like Black mamba better. Might have been on it on a bad day but even on a good one won't it beat Katun.
This video was great and I agree with most of what you said (from the POV of someone who's not been to most of Europe) but I'd just like to say I've ridden pretty much every major coaster in the UK and I truly believe that Nemesis and Smiler @ Alton towers and icon @Blackpool pleasure beach could be considered elite coasters. I'm not the most reliable source for coaster rankings but I have recently experienced the coasters at the Gold Coast in Australia so I feel like I've had a taste for what elite is.
To be honest, I don't think there's any such thing as elite - what's great for one person isn't the same as what's great for another. I have my rides that bring me lots of happiness - Nemesis definitely being one of them - but I much prefer an Intamin multi-launch over a Mack one so Icon is just ok for me, and I'm not much of a Gerstlauer fan at all so I'm not too bothered about the Smiler (and don't get me started on Saw!) My favourite coaster in the world is Millennium Force which I'm sure would disappoint many an enthusiast, and I'd take floater airtime over ejector airtime any day. It's interesting to know what other people think, but when it comes down to it, for me it's just about going out there travelling and riding coasters and finding what's great for you - so you rank things how you want to! :)
@@edbrown2998 I can't argue with that. Some people simply don't care for strong positives or great theming so a ride like nemesis may not stand out at all to them like it does for me, or millennium force for its positives and floater

I think only Florida can compare to to the Benelux area when it comes down to access to theme parks.
Advantages of living in a densely populated area I guess
Germany seems to have a very stacked lineup, and while I don’t typically travel internationally for coasters, that nation might be worth it.
All about Poland for me with Lech, Zadra, Hyperion and Formula
