The psychology is something I struggled with at the start too, after a while, you will switch that off, the clarity will improve, both on the charts and reading them and also as your amygdala is now no longer blocking your intuition centres. Stress triggers cortisol, insulin and adrenaline, we can't 'feel' when we are in this emotional state.

He has an algorithm that he sells that is amazing over his students. I haven't got it yet because he sells it for around 10k but from what I've been reading from his students who bought it a while back, they're still very happy with it and most are doing great. That would be the ONLY algorithm id EVER think about purchasing.

Real Talk, this *is* one of the best videos
To be honest, a video like this needs to be watched MULTIPLE TIMES, and I don't mean on a continuous loop.
Like once every 3 days, get a few nights of sleep in between, to really let your subconcious be formed to the ideas/truths presented
One thing I have learned about learning is that, even if English is your first language, and you COMPLETELY understand (AND BELIEVE) this message being said, it is very possible that your previous learnings PREVENT YOU from carrying out these new things that you wish to follow.
Some of my best "Ah-Ha!" moments, were when I realized that a statement which I completely memorized and ABSOLUTELY believed to be true & NECESSARY in order to reach consistent trading success, STILL wasn't actually being followed within my actual trading decisions.

The limbic cortex is the part of the brain where it helps define if something "feels" right or wrong. It's also heavily involved in emotions... Basically, this is why intuition can often be in conflict with fear.

I disagree about the trading courses. Some people use courses as a mere stepping stone. Even if all I learned from a course was terminology, that still puts me further ahead than I was before. Which is actually quite important for developing that coveted intuition you're talking about. That intuition is built out of all kinds of information sources. Some small part of which, could actually be a course. You're right, no amount of courses will make you a master. But a good course will definitely give you a much needed leg up, so that you're further along the path to finally becoming a master.

@@Exito.618 Sure. You're paying for the convenience of a course. Unless you find "the guy" on youtube, and you may not, a good course is probably still the right way to go. With a course it's all cobbled together for you. On youtube, there's a high likelihood that you have to assemble the information yourself from various videos and different uploaders. Which costs you time.

I thought I was the only in the Internet not buying courses or subscribing to signal services. Not because I discovered the same things you talk in the video early but because I'm just cheap. This is excellent information. 23 years ago I married my Portuguese wife. I had a handful of lessons in the beginning but didn't make much progress. Over the years I have been exposed to the language regularly despite living in the UK.
I now speak Portuguese fluently to the point that sometimes people ask how long have I been in England because my accent is too English 😂 They refuse to believe I never had formal lessons. I would have been faster living in the country, so really the more exposure, the faster the learning curve...

Mate, I came to this realisation just a week or so ago too. During a webinar about a basic pullback strategy, the chap highlighted what price he would enter at and what sort of price action he was looking for to confirm entry. He knew what he was looking for and where, according to him, a low risk entry would be. That bit of the puzzle can't be taught.
I won't start trading with real money but will be dedicating at least a couple of hours everday to just looking at price action and try to develop an understanding/feeling/intuition for it.

The exam will test your knowledge on all covered concepts. So you cannot just focus on one section just because you feel it’s most important to you. You may pass that section but you’ll fail the exam and the module… 95% of People who are learning to trade only want to focus on charts, yet there are other concepts that are VITAL in becoming a professional trader.

This is very good advise. I started applying the same principles of putting in the time to practice and improve my trading skills after an experience with a video game, which I found almost impossible at first but then, after 100 hours, found myself mastering it; I began to recognise the patterns and develop better awareness. Trading certainly requires more time than that, but that's what it takes to begin to understand the language and circumstance of the charts. My win rate has been improving gradually week on week, just have to grind it out.

Yes, trading is the only way to truly learn how YOU trade. However, I would argue that not all strategies can be coded. Raw TA is entirely subjective and requires the human to decide where they want the lines - I'm not sure how you could possibly cover that. I struggled with understanding how TA was beneficial until I realized that it's a self-fulfilling prophecy of sorts. If most traders draw their lines the same way, then they're all expecting it to happen and place their trades accordingly.

Having started early on developing trading bots and jumping from one strategy to the next, this is blowing my mind! And it makes sense, of course! I remember my first driving lesson. Took about 2 minutes for the guy to tell me what each pedal does and how to shift gears (explicit memory) and before I knew it I was driving on the street, sweating bullets (implicit memory). I'm still very biased towards extracting rules and putting them into a bot that can not only trade, but do it in terms of passive income, even while I sleep. But then again, I might just be knocking on the wrong door. You're certainly opening my eyes to a whole different way of doing things! I'm very grateful for that!

Thanks for the video Iman, i like the example you give about learning to ride a bicycle. On the other hand, I don't agree that you have to throw yourself without having a minimum of basics. Trading is all about understanding the context (what is the price action doing) you have to have so much screen time that at some point reading the price action becomes like second nature (like riding a bicycle) . It's like the jazz virtuosos who improvise, but they all start at the base by learning the basics of the instrument (in our case, the basics of price actions). You can only improvise when you have a basic minimum. I advise any beginner to take an interest in the work of Mack, a former student of Al brooks (PATS) or Al brooks (but it's much more complicated and tedious, Mack has created a system that is much less complicated to master technically but which requires a LOT of screentime for price action to become second nature) It is a "system" but which is based on the context more than on this or that "pattern", in short you learn to read the language of the price (price action)Good luck everybody

I wish this was the first video I watched before I started. I laugh on how I used to trade in the beginning using so many indicators and those so called "best indicators". Just show up and after every trade journal your trade. Make a discord channel and track your journey. Through your own trial & error it will click trust me. 8 months in for me and just trading SPY everyday, I feel like I haven't learned much but looking back at my old trades that ii tracked i made some huge progress. Trust the process!!

In my opinion there is something funny about Wisdom (or informations in this video). you must know it already to be able to konw it! I mean a completely amateur has a hard time to understand what you are saying!
By the way this the most true and useful video I've ever seen in youtube about trading. Thanks.

I disagree, partly anyway. Having gotten value from paid trading courses I can say some(not all) courses are worth it.
Yes, intuition, I agree is a huge factor and loads of practice and hardwork is needed , and the most valuable courses I have gone through lay emphasis on practice, data gathering and developing your own style/intuition.
However, without some of the concepts taught in these courses, guidance given on what to/how to practice and examples shown. I can say that my progress and understanding would not have come this far.
Yes, for sure, watching videos alone won't help, the main skill comes from practice. But if you don't know what to practice or are practicing the wrong things then you are going to have a hard time.
Good courses break down concepts in a way that's easy to understand, guide you on how to go about developing your understanding and skill, and offer access to mentors and communities that can help you iron out any difficulties you might be having. Some even offer a roadmap to guide you from complete noob through to gaining competence and eventually becoming really good.
Yes practice and direct experience is key but the journey can be made so much easier with the right guidance that good courses offer. I speak from my own personal experience, seeing my own progress after going through several courses.

Agreed here. Without mentorship and guidance you're essentially trying to learn from scratch. A surgeon wouldn't just start operating on someone - they would go through intensive schooling and mentorship first. I agree with a lot said in this video but there's too much distrust in education lately. I can understand why though. That being said- education without action is meaningless.

My personal hang up, as I’ve been struggling for years, is that I don’t know how “possible” it is to become a consistently profitable day trader. What if it’s possible, but in the same way that dunking a basketball from the foul line is possible? Never give up, keep practicing! But what if I’m a sucker just chasing a TH-cam mirage? Not sure if likening price action to a language is correct, it could be, idk…or it could be a different language every day, week, or month. People can go from being consistently profitable to consistently unprofitable too.

This is so true, i am backtesting the same strategy for over 350 trades, in the betonning there was bareley any intuition, but now i start to see things better, the same strategy works better after hours and hours of practise

The faster you can accept (ego doesn't want to accept being 'wrong') that the trade is going against you and close it out ASAP for hopefully a 'small loss' the better off you will be. Then, your winners will have a chance to allow for positive days, and generally positive (Green) month over month. At least that was one of my problems when I started years ago. I agree, trading is 90% mental/emotional and 10% technical. Best To You All !

can implicit memory for trading be mastered through backtesting rigorously? well the data is there, and by watching how the past price action moves beginners can improve their "intuition accuracy" being on par with other veteran traders. Would appreciate any comments on this 🤔🤔

  • @fabiofischer3735
    @fabiofischer3735 ปีที่แล้ว

So basically a strategy can almost never be 100% technical? it always has a subjective part attached to it that only traders with a developed intuition can manage to master?
