See, I always felt that Sascha should've stayed in Holland with the Dutch National Ballet. I mean, nothing against the the world-famous legendary American Ballet Theatre. The biggest ballet in the entire U.S. for a reason. Hell, Radetsky had his tenure there.
But when he was in the CENTER STAGE movie, he was only in the corps and merely worked his way up to soloist. When he was a guest-artist in Holland and danced with the Dutch National Ballet, they were generous enough to make him a Principal Dancer. Yes, you read that right. He was at the top of the company--one of the star dancers. But then he went crawling back to ABT to just do solos... until age and injury forced him to retire like all dancers must eventually.
Still wait, maybe I'm being unfair. It's not like ABT took him for granted. They gave him tenure, didn't they? And he was allowed to take over as the artistic director of American Ballet Theatre's Studio Company. So... I shouldn't feel too bad for Sascha. I just wish... he himself had danced a little longer... Like all the great ones...
