    Nice video as always! I learned a lot of informations about wines from you. And recently, I have an interest to Amarones. I will grateful if you upload a video about Italian Amarone someday! Thanx for your videos from South Korea.

      I’ll keep your suggestion in mind. A class on amarone may be suitable for next year’s wine school.

    Your best posting yet. Wonderful and informative. Visited last fall for first time in the thick of Pandemic. Tougher to get in and minor rules to follow. Great visit, and would love to back. Beautiful spot.

    Another thing to note is that Wiemer also has a vine nursery. Most of the cab franc vines in my vineyard are from them. :)

    99 points on a scale of 100, for this video! Very interesting wine region. That gets too little attention. Humor of Pat "Long bad flavors". A critical Oscar "Whats wrong with this wine". And interesting themes "Layers of green tones" and "Focusing on hangtime" etc. In short, a good balance! And the wines? Quality, individuality and no lookalikes. That's the power! Don't just let them focus on chardonnay for the future, but also on chenin blanc, verdejo, alvarinho or grüner veltliner for example.

    Hi Dr. Pat Farrell. I am studying wset who want to be like you I have so confused question. Pinot gris is clone of pinot noir or is it mutation? Please let me know as much as possible🥺🥺

    • @dr.patfarrellmasterofwine1496
      @dr.patfarrellmasterofwine1496  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pinot gris is very similar, genetically, to pinot noir and pinot blanc. All three are separate varieties and not clones.

    I wasn´t aware that there was so much Riesling in the US. I love Riesling and I was looking to buy some, but in Germany it is pretty difficult. Are there differences....like in a blind tasting could you make out a difference (maybe expect Mosel Rieslings since they are winderfull but pretty distinct)?

    Very interesting as usual.
    Watching this from Germany, I'd have loved some more comment on how the Rieslings compare with German/Austrian/Alsatian ones style-wise (since the Loire Cabernet Francs got so much coverage ...). Conventional wisdom here is that New World Rieslings may be okay if they're from NZ, but you'd hardly find any from North Eastern America to begin with. I vaguely remember drinking one from Long Island abut 20 years ago and while it was nice it was really unimpressive given a relatively hefty price tag. It was pretty middle of the road (so not as distinctive as Mosel or Rheingau style) and I thought I could get a similar one from maybe Palatine or Wachau for half the money. I'd really love to hear whether seeking out the New World for a different take on Riesling is worth it or the mentioned export efforts to Germany are rather falling into the category of bringing sand to the beach (which of course is not meant as an insult to the Finger Lakes, but without a distinctive own style it won't really be competitive).

    • @dr.patfarrellmasterofwine1496
      @dr.patfarrellmasterofwine1496  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Exporting American riesling to Germany would be useful only for niche producers. Once I have a school up and running, a master class on riesling to do an in depth look at European classics and great New World examples would be high on my list.
