Hi Caitlin, I recently purchased this machine and have been so frustrated I was ready to sell it. Before giving up completely, I searched and found your channel and watched this video a couple of times. This morning, after properly dialing in the machine, I made the best iced coffee I've ever had. All the little things in espresso prep really do make a huge difference. Thank you, you are my coffee hero! I now love this machine. Your channel content is amazing and you are a delight to watch. Thanks again, Elle.
i’m so happy i found this video you’re absolutely lovely to watch and listen to!
i have been struggling in getting a good shot with my breville barista machine, i've watched and read so many tips but still no luck. But after watching your video i am hopeful again! thank you so much for the in depth explanations and tips! 😄
This video is very well done. You have all the basics included to start producing consistantly good espresso shots on the BBE. From this base, you have described so well, you can now start adding small things as you work towards refining and perfecting your product. Better quality basket, bottomless portafilter, metal steam handle (I know) etc. Thanks for this newcomer tool.
Awesome video! You’re becoming my go to for coffee!! Thank you for sharing your wisdom ❤️❤️❤️
What a great informative video, thank you so much!
This was so helpful, thank you!
Your video was great, so informative! Great job
You have this super nice energy... your videos are really relaxing 😌
Thank you 😊
SO HELPFUL - thank you!!!
This machine was my 4th espresso machine. The fact that this is your first is pretty awesome because I suffered before getting this machine
what is your burr size and grind size
Amazing video. Thanks!
Thank you. So helpful. Got my machine today.
I’m so glad 😀
Wow, this is more complicated than I thought! 😮
Great info Caitlin!
Hey Rick! Glad you found my channel, let me know if you have anymore question, happy to help my friend!
Outstanding video, thanks and well explained.
Thank you Pete so glad you enjoyed ☺️
Thank you for your video. What grind setting do you have? Thanks in advance.
Great advice. 😀
Great video! i learned a lot 👍
Awesome I’m so glad 😀💜
Good info Caitlin!
Great and informative video! I’ve been using the pro for over a year now and I think i know what changes to make after watching
Great to hear!
@@CaitlinCampbellCC what is your inner burr setting
Thank you 💗
awesome thanks
Do you hit the program every time you try a new grind or only initially set it (even with a wrong grind) and then only adjust the grind size? As far as I figured, it sets the volume of water going through so if you set it to produce a volume equal to 1:2 ratio it should still be the same output of coffee by weight even if you adjust the grind, is that correct?
Needed this! Time to step up my game another notch. Now I just need a scale...
Yes highly recommend a scale 🙌
Great video, but I'd definitely recommend timing the shot from when you begin the brew and not after pre-infusiom!
2 years later I finally made a good cup on my touch.. been a journey in all fairness I ga e up after a month and just went back to it after understanding I wasn't making a cup of coffee.
Hello, been making espresso for about 2 months now but I haven’t been able to get a lot of crema and I think it’s due to the freshness of my beans because I feel like I’ve got the other factors done correctly. I’m making pretty good tasting coffee but I definitely think it should be tasting better. I’ve been learning latte art and I’m able to do okay tulips but it’s not sitting on top of the coffee as it should and was just wondering besides freshness what are the other factors to not having a lot of crema and a few tips on latte art ?
Hi Caitlin, love the video. question where did you get your scale? I don't have one
I'm not really feeling the coffee? like I love the taste of coffee but I'm a construction worker and also love how it wakes me up and gets me ready for the day (when I buy coffee out). This isn't happening with the machine, like i feel like I just had a tea and not a coffee. Would this be something to do with the grind settings or the beans? I just bought conventional coffee beans from the supermarket to set this up. Love the video though and your take on this would be very much appreciated!
thanks, does 19g yield to 38grams of liquid coffee can reach to 60ml, or for best result compute to grams and not by volume. what is your internal burr setting
good video, how can be possible that you weight 19 g put into the grinder and you get after grinder 19g, because my machine have a lot retention, I put 18g into the grinder and I get only 15g, any suggestion?...thank you.
A huge Thank you to you Caitlin, your explanations were simply great, I am an espresso coffee lover and I struggle to get my best results on making that espresso. Barista Espresso Coffee Maker is on my priority list and I hope I will buy it till the end of the year.
One question please: do you put sugar in that espresso? How is recommended to drink espresso? With or without sugar?
Thank you for reading my message.
Have a fantastic weekend!

The best advice I ever saw on the internet goes like this: "You do you." Enjoy!
Caitlyn, do you recommend Pressurized or non- pressurized portafilter for learning purposes? I mean - a new newbie, fresh out box, used to work at SBUX type barista, knows tad more than girl/guy off street, open minded, ready to learn , enthusiastic, empath, tell me what to do person.
Hi what is your inner burr set as? Please 😃
This is a bit of a nightmare.. I had my machine over a year, I am still unable to get correct tuning, even though I use SAME beans, SAME grind, SAME pressure, practically IDENTICAL PROCESS OF EVERYTHING... it randomly generates a pressure between from 0 to all the way up to the max.
And its not consistent, nor does it follow a pattern, so I can not even troubleshoot 🤔☹
Great video! May I ask what is your inner burr size setting?
Up
Hey, I love your videos. What kind of scale do you use?
Acaia pearl!
What size crema distributor do you use? And do you have the link to the ring you put around the portafilter so coffee doesn’t spill out of it?

Your a Rockstar!
I was wondering if you know, if there is a way you can manually set the time your brewing time in your breville, because mine keeps stopping at about 16 sec - could that be a dailing issue or machine setting?
I have the Bambino pro
Thanks your the best 👌🏽
Did you watch the video before asking a question? She literally tells you this at 6:45...
what is your burr and grind size
@@crowcaine1 dont be that guy. you are not that good
Newbie here, still learning-- once you get everything dialed in correctly do you need to do this every time you have a coffee or when you switch beans?
Just when you switch beans!
Hello Caitlin, Might be a dumb question: When "programming" should I press the button again to stop the pull right when I see the desired weight or should I stop it in anticipation of it? Hope that makes since but there is a lag between pushing the button and it actually stops pulling/dripping. Otherwise thank you so much I appreciate the info.
in 7:24 you can se right when she hits 38gr you can hear the click of the button.. So I guess right when you hit the desired weight...
Cheers from Vancouver eh!
Cheers my friend
You kick ass...Thanks for the tutorial
Just remember that a bad shot is pretty good americano
that's the spirit! :D
Yah I like a little extra water.
Have you tried dialing in the Breville Cafe Roma? Can’t figure out how to prolong the extraction. Whether it is a fine or coarse ground, it’s pulling a double shot in 15 to 20 seconds.
Why some people time it as soon as you hit the double shot button ?
I really like your videos, it makes me want to make coffee even tho I don’t like the taste lol
Thank you 😊
Whats the use of the other filter that came in with the machine if you wont even use it?
Not sure what you mean by other filter?
I pulled a 1.7 ounce shot with 16 grams of beans on grind setting 4. It took 25 seconds from the time I pressed the double espresso button. Any tips?
Try a slightly finer setting? Maybe 3
Do you stop the machine at 1:2 extraction? Meaning you stop the machine at 38g of espresso or do u just let the breville finish the shot
I stop it at 38g
@@CaitlinCampbellCC ty for your reply! Love your videos. What are your thoughts on 1:3 ?
This is basically my training for working at a coffee shop 😂
Nice!
Lol same but not right now cause I'm pretty sure no coffee shop is going to hire a 13 year old
I'm not an expert, but the time should be measured almost immediately after turning on the extraction, i.e. when the first drop of water comes into contact with the coffee, not after the coffee stream appears.
Which Breville machine would you recommend for at home rookie?
Breville Bambino ☺️
@@CaitlinCampbellCC how about one with a built in grinder?
Breville Barista Express 100%

I can’t get the extraction time to exceed 16 seconds…. I’ve tried dialing it in went from 10-2 with no improvement…..
Couple of different things. 1 this is an inner burr that can be adjusted (look up tutorials on that) potentially that needs to be finer as well. 2. Increase your dose and how hard you're tamping.
what is your burr size and grind size please repplyy

Way too much work.
