Very helpful. For any educators out there, Backward Design basically focuses on the K or A of KSAs (knowledge, skill, attitude/affect) typically just the K. Action Mapping is basically Backward Design applied to just the "S" or skill/behavior mixed with some coaching methodology. It's really fantastic methodology for when there is a skill/behavior/performance goal to reach. Cathy says her method is not meant for Education, but I can see a great many applications for it in terms of e-learning scenario based teaching for asynchronous courses, and real world activities (i.e., authentic assessments) in the classroom or course.
