    A tip: If you don't have a straightening iron with a low enough setting, you can just use an iron at the lowest setting.

    good tutorial, you showed a lot of possibilities. i've never thought of attaching the strands one by one to make the wefts flatter, but yes i seems to be a good option :)

    I keep my expectations real low when trying to change the color of acrylic yarn. Since arcylic is synthetic, it won't dye well. I have to use a special dye for synthetics (rit dyemore) or alcohol inks, which yeild lower intensities. Watercolor (liquid tube form) also work but again, a very light variation of it.

      @heartsDmise 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      shellysdolls Acrylic paint works well!! As long as you mix with water and shift the yarn a few times in its bowl or wherever you are holding it. It takes maybe 2-4 days to dry depending on how much yarn you are dying and it turns out deeply colored so its nice 👍

      in my experience, the method that works best is taking a soft pastel of the colour you want to change the yarn to, and just rubbing it thoroughly. the only downside is that it is very messy and there is quite a bit of pigment dust left over but the colour is nice and vibrant so its not too bad of a trade. hope this helps!

    First off I want to thank you, this tutorial saved me so much money! I am making Waldorf dolls, but didn’t have any mohair on me. But I have lots of yarn!

    When dying it, I recommend rubbing the pastels into the yarn wefts rather than just brushing it off, you should get more pigment that way

    A good brand of yarn is red heart it's 100% acrylic and it stays pretty good length unless you try and do really long I would say that if you would try and do a head to toe doll wig with this brand doesnt work that well. - when you use soft pastels use a toothbrush to buffer in the colours they come out looking really close to the pastel colour

    Hi I'm a new subscriber and I would actually like to see how you make the wig cap look so perfect. I tried making them with nylons but they always seem to shrink. I see how nice yours come out and wouldn't mind seeing how it's done. It might seem like a simple thing but OMG it drives me nuts when I try lol.

  • @CybrBuny
    @CybrBuny 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    So my main question is how many wefts do you need to make a wig? I want to open up an etsy shop because I've gotten really good at making the hair, I just don't know how much exactly needs to go in each bundle:/

    • @dolldoc7884
      @dolldoc7884  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sorry for the delay. I haven’t measured my wefts for a wig. I usually make a lot at once and the extras go into baggies for future dolls. So since I had a wig to make I went ahead and measured this time (that’s why it took longer to reply). I used about 19in of wefts on the wig I just made Now some wigs might take more and others less depending on the hairstyle.
