Thank you sir! After not using my K5 for a year it didn't start up and I already read thru several repair instructions. Shortly before starting to take it apart, I ran into your video. Worked like a charm and saved me so much time - priceless. At least one more pint to book - already on its way.
This bloody worked!!!! What did we do before TH-cam and Google and people like you. Back to jet washing the car. Saved a pile of dosh too. Thanks for your help.
Genius! I had rebuilt the switch 3 times already after lending it to my mother-in-law. I couldn't understand why the switch was always failing for her. But I ran the water through it, and hey presto! Works without rebuilding the switch!! Cheers David - enjoy your pint!
Cheers David, just got the Karcher out of storage and no power. Looked on Google for advise and found your page, it worked a treat. We have donated the price of a pint as suggested. Thanks very much it saved us a small fortune, you are a star. Steve and Yvonne, Manchester
Well worth the fiver I just paid for this little fix it gem. Thanks David, I turned my karcher on this morning, nothing, thought I was going to have to buy a new karcher and believe me this week, our waterfall pump which we have had 3 weeks has broken down the solenoid was too weak and our astralpool colour changing pool lights that we have had for 2 months also broken over the weekend so it could have been rather an expensive week what with the karcher. But we took your advice and it works...yippeee thank you for that!
Thank You from South Africa. Was about to take my K5.700 to the agents for repair when i found your video. Running like a dream. You are a scholar and a gentleman Sir.
well,i don't believe it,didn't think this would work for 1 second, buried my k4 in my shed and bought a new one, this was 2 years ago, came a cross your video and this worked instantly, brilliant, thanks David.
My K2 wasn't working due to the air lock issue so called Karcher and they quoted £170 as its just out if warranty. Watched your video and you saved me from buying a new one. Thank you.
This works. Every time I leave my machine for a while I have to follow this rigmarole. I would not recommend a Karcher machine to anyone considering buying one - over hyped.
Thank you my mate!!! Not sure what model Karcher water blaster I have, but mine looks quite different to yours, and I cannot run the water through the nozzle like yours, but I could just run the water through the machine itself. I did this, and after a few seconds water burst out the front plug where I plug in the nozzles cable in. Then turned on the power, and boom, everything working again!!!! Thank you heaps My Man!!!!!! Lifesaver!!! The Mrs is especially happy as I could wash her car today.. :-) Happy Wife, Happy Life!!!
You sir are an absolute STAR…I was just about to strip the K4 down, but you’ve saved me hours of work with this simple trick. Thanks does not seem enough….but THANKS anyway.
I think I owe you a pint! I've had a K4 in my shed that has not worked for years, I've just done what you suggested, and now all is good. Thank you so much. Dominic Duncan
Thank you David ! After not using my K5.7 for a long time I was also about to try and take it apart to check that the power was getting to the unit. After trying your advice for a few minutes without success - your mention of bleeding the water hose for a good 10 minutes got me thinking about where else could a tiny air leak get into the system as all hoses seamed good - then I thought about the now empty (upside down) soap bottle - maybe being empty was enough to trick the system - so I half filled it and within a minute of bleeding the water as per your video - the karcher was running normally !! Maybe my soap bottle is very old and may be leaking some air into the system - but filling it plus following your advice FIXED the PROBLEM - thank you !!!!!
I tries this a couple of months ago with my K5 and it didn't work. I said I'd look into it again and try once more. As I was watching this video trying this with the water running the machine kicked back in again. Amazing 👏
Thanks for an easy way to bleed the lines to remove the air lock. Sadly it looks like mine needs the pump refurbished as motor goes but water dribbles out of wand. This helps for my friends one which stopped working for me tho so I didn't need to replace hers. Owe u a pint but sadly I'm a kiwi, probably not a local pub here in New Zealand that u frequent. Hence why I left a long feedback. This is the best and fastest way to bleed the line. Five star rating for u mate!!
Hi, just tried your tip and I was delighted when the machine started up after running water through it for 10/15 mins, I was certain that there was an electrical problem such as a faulty switch. Initially I ran the water for only a minute or two but the machine did not start. then as last effort I let the water run for a longer period to my amazement the machine started. Thanks very much for the tip.
David, you're a star, just did as you say with my non-starting Karcher K5.700 and it worked a treat. I've just sent you a wee donation. Have a pint on me my friend. Thank you.

Just sent you a pint my friend, was pressure washing the patio this morning ,and the hose popped off, motor went manic, though jeez its knackered. It would not turn on, though bugger naffed the motor and off to homebase i go for another. A quick google and found your vid. Enjoy your beer! Lee
Thankyou so much we were ready to order a new one. It kept stopping and starting, then wouldn't switch on at all, come straight here and found you... Brilliant. Pint sent cheers 🍻
It’s great that this fix can work, but it is nothing to do with removing an airlock! There is a pressure switch that turns the motor off when you release the lance trigger, this is what stops the motor moments after you turn the power on when machine is working normally. When you squeeze the lance trigger the pressure in the hose is released causing the switch to close and start the motor. This switch can stick in the open position preventing the motor from running making the machine appear to be broken. By running the water through the machine with no obstruction on the outlet it can force the switch return to it’s closed position as the mains water pressure assists the internal spring pressure. I know this because it did not fix mine, only after stripping it did I understand the mechanism of failure, and why this fix might work. Keep up the good work :)

If you really thankful and want to buy me that beer the link is in my comments or just PayPal me what you feel.
Cheers and good luck
Yup... you're the man! Worked like a charm, and I was indeed about to go buy a new one. Things are made so cheap nowadays that I figured it just broke 😄
A beer will be lovely thank you
@@dmgladdenfollowed as instructed but the water doesn't flow through the machine to the lance hole
@@davidmacdonald4406 is it leaking? Or is the water off as there is nothing to stop the flow
@@dmgladden no its not leaking, connect hose and turn it in and water doesn't flow through the machine, does the pump have a safety shut-off? When you switch it on it heats the water that comes back out the inlet pipe when you remove the hose but there's no noise from the motor on switch on.
@@davidmacdonald4406 no should be nothing stopping the flow
It really works. Mine started after 1 min. I heard the air bubbles coming out. Thank you!
